In addition to manufacturing iPhones in India, Apple is also planning to start manufacturing AirPods headphones here from 2024. According to news site Bqprime, the company has no plans to assemble iPads and MacBooks in the country. The current focus of the US technology company is to expand its current production scale, the official said.

In the year ending September 25, 2022, Apple sold $191 billion worth of iPhones and $38.36 billion worth of wearables and accessories. In the first nine months of 2023, iPhone sales fell about 4% to $156.77 billion, while wearables, smart home, and accessories also fell slightly to $30.52 billion.

The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are manufactured in the South Asian country. This year is the first time that Apple has sold iPhones made in China and India simultaneously on launch day.

According to research firm Counterpoint Research, Apple is leading the ultra-premium segment (priced above $500) with 59% in the first quarter of 2023. India is also in the top 5 markets of the "bitten apple" today.

Meanwhile, India plans to expand its electronics industry to $300 billion by 2026, based on increased smartphone production and a global push to reduce risks from China's supply chain, according to Bloomberg.
