Apple has just introduced two new features for the AirPods 4, AirPods 4 with active noise cancellation (ANC), and AirPods Pro 2: high-quality audio recording and remote camera control.
These improvements not only make communication clearer, but also open up new ways for users to record video and audio content.
Studio-quality recording even on the go
With upgraded recording capabilities, users can record voice in near studio-quality, suitable for activities such as interviews, podcasting, auditioning, or vlogging.
Thanks to the H2 chip combined with directional microphones and computational audio processing, recording quality becomes sharper and more natural, even in noisy environments.

AirPods Pro 2 now support studio-quality audio recording.
Voice Isolation continues to work wonders in separating your voice from background noise, making your voice clearer when making calls via iPhone, FaceTime, CallKit-enabled apps, and when using Voice Memos or voice typing in the Messages app.
High-quality recording is supported on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and works well with apps like Camera, Voice Memos, online meeting platforms like Webex, and many supported third-party camera apps.
Remote camera control with headset
Users can now remotely control the iPhone or iPad camera from their AirPods. While using the Camera app or other compatible camera apps, simply press and hold the stem to start recording video or taking a photo, and press and hold again to stop.

The hold to capture feature supports photo and video capture control.
This feature is especially useful for those who like to record themselves singing, dancing or creating content more flexibly, because there is no need to run to the device to press a button. Synchronizing between performance movements and background music is also easier when recording and controlling via headphones.
With these two new features, AirPods are no longer just a music or calling device, but also become a more convenient, compact and effective content creation support tool in many situations.
All of these new features are available to test now through the Apple Developer Program at developer.apple.com. A public beta will be released next month through the Apple Beta Software Program at beta.apple.com. Features for AirPods 4, AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), and AirPods Pro 2 will be released this fall as free firmware updates alongside iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe 26.
