Finding replacement parts for the Apple Watch Series 4 will be more difficult |
Entering 2025, Apple has quickly updated its list of classic and obsolete products. And the iconic Apple Watch Series 4 smartwatch from the "Apple" company has been added to the list of classic products.
The Apple Watch Series 4 was released in September 2018 and marked the first redesign of the Apple Watch line with a larger screen, thinner bezels, and more rounded corners. However, its inclusion in the classic category will make users consider upgrading or buying "like new" models.
Apple classifies products as vintage when they have been out of production for more than five years but less than seven years. During this time, users can still receive repairs from Apple and authorized service providers, depending on the availability of parts. However, after seven years, these products become obsolete and are no longer supported for repair.
In addition to the Apple Watch Series 4, Apple also added many other devices to the classic list such as the first generation HomePod, iPhone X and the first generation AirPods. These products have become classic due to the rapid development of technology as well as the short life cycle of electronic devices.
While devices in the vintage category can still receive hardware support, finding replacement parts will become increasingly difficult. Especially after a period of 7 years, when products are declared obsolete, Apple will completely stop providing repair services for them.
