The information was recently shared by the leader of the Malaysian Ministry of Communications, confirming that the content of the Declaration has been discussed by ASEAN information ministers since May 2024, with the consensus on the need to develop a common strategy and specific measures to respond to the growing challenges from social networks.
The Malaysian representative said that after the upcoming ASEAN Summit, ASEAN information ministers will continue to coordinate more closely to build effective response mechanisms to challenges in cyberspace.
Despite the different sizes and conditions of each country, all ASEAN countries are affected by issues related to online safety, cyber fraud and online gambling.
ASEAN media emphasized that the initiative to promote the responsible use of social networks is considered an important strategy of ASEAN in the coming period, aiming to strengthen information and communication cooperation, build a safe and healthy digital space, and enhance the solidarity of the ASEAN Community in the new development period.
