ASIAD 19 medal table (as of October 4):
On the competition day of October 4, sepak takraw and volleyball brought positive results for Vietnamese sports at the 19th ASIAD. While the sepak takraw team excellently brought home the gold medal in the 4-women team event, the women's volleyball team made history by reaching the semi-finals of an Asian Games for the first time.
It is even more meaningful when the Sepak Takraw gold medal helps the Vietnamese sports delegation reach the first achievement target (2-5 gold medals) set before departure, and the women's volleyball team also officially completed the goal of Top 4 ASIAD after entering the Top 4 Asia more than a month ago.
Women's volleyball wins the right to enter the semi-finals
On October 5, Vietnam's sepak takraw team will continue to compete in the women's 3-team event against India and the men's 3-team event against Malaysia. Hopefully, the "more precious than gold" gold medal in the women's 4-team event will be the motivation for the sepak takraw team members to create miracles.
Sepak Takraw is expected to shine again.
Volleyball is similar when the Vietnamese women's team will have a clash that is considered "unequal" with the host team China to determine the top spot in the quarterfinals of Group E, although both sides have officially qualified for the semi-finals. Two consecutive victories against strong opponents will certainly give the Vietnamese girls more strength to meet the expectations of their fans.
Arriving in Hangzhou last, the jujitsu and karate teams took to the field on the 11th day of competition. As one of the mainstays of Vietnamese sports, karate is expected to recreate the impressive performance it had at the recent 32nd SEA Games.
Nguyen Thi Phuong competes in kata
The two fighters who will compete in the individual kata category are Pham Minh Duc and Nguyen Thi Phuong, and in the sparring category, fighter Dinh Thi Huong will compete in the women's 68kg category. Against extremely strong opponents such as Japan, Kazakhstan or Jordan, Vietnamese karate will have to put in a hundred percent effort to be able to reach the dream medal.
