According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from 3:00 a.m. on August 24 to 3:00 a.m. on August 25, the Northern provinces, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An experienced moderate to heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain, with rainfall ranging from 90-195.6 mm. Soil moisture models show that some areas in the above provinces are nearly saturated (over 85%) or have reached a saturated state.
It is forecasted that on August 25, the above provinces will continue to have rain with accumulated rainfall in the Northeast from 10-40mm, some places over 60mm; Northwest from 5-15mm, some places over 40mm; Thanh Hoa from 20-50mm, some places over 80mm; Nghe An from 15-30mm, some places over 50mm.
Experts warn of the risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes in many areas. Warning of natural disaster risks due to flash floods, landslides, land subsidence due to heavy rain or level 1 flow.
Flash floods and landslides can have very negative impacts on the environment, threaten people's lives; cause local traffic congestion, affect the movement of vehicles; destroy civil and economic works, causing damage to production and socio-economic activities.
At sea, currently, the central and southern East Sea (including Truong Sa sea area) and the Gulf of Thailand have showers and thunderstorms. It is forecasted that on the day and night of August 25, the central and southern East Sea (including Truong Sa sea area), the sea area from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to Kien Giang and the Gulf of Thailand will have showers and thunderstorms; during thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes and strong gusts of wind of level 7-8, beware of wave heights sometimes increasing to over 2m.
All vessels operating in the above areas are at high risk of being affected by tornadoes, strong winds and large waves.
