Bac Lieu province plans to spend nearly 700 billion VND to build its fifth bridge.

Authorities in Bac Lieu province are planning to invest nearly 700 billion VND to build the Bac Lieu 5 bridge across the Bac Lieu - Ca Mau river.

On December 4th, the Bac Lieu Provincial National Assembly Delegation held a meeting with voters following the 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly and before the 21st Session of the 10th Provincial People's Council.

During the meeting, voter Le Ngoc Tuan (residing in Ward 3, Bac Lieu City) shared that the people agree with the reorganization of the area, including Ward 8 and Ward 3.

However, voter Le Ngoc Tuan also expressed concern about the difficulties in transportation between the areas, separated by the Bac Lieu - Ca Mau river. People have to take a very inconvenient detour.

"If the province invests in building a bridge across the Bac Lieu - Ca Mau river, it will contribute to the socio-economic development of the locality, and at the same time create conditions for people to travel safely and quickly," voter Tuan suggested.

Regarding the above proposal, Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung, Director of the Bac Lieu Department of Transport, said that according to the plan, Bac Lieu province has 5 bridges crossing the Bac Lieu - Ca Mau river.

"Currently, there are three bridges. Two bridges remain, of which the Bac Lieu 4 bridge has been included in the Ha Tien - Bac Lieu expressway."

"The Bac Lieu 5 bridge is planned to be built at the end of Tran Huynh street, but the investment capital is very large, so the funding has not yet been balanced," Mr. Dung informed.

According to Mr. Dung, the Department of Transport is actively coordinating with relevant units to develop an investment plan for the construction of Bac Lieu 5 bridge in the period 2025 - 2030, with an estimated investment capital of nearly 700 billion VND.

Speaking at the meeting with voters, Mr. Lu Van Hung, Secretary of the Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee, emphasized that the opinions and suggestions of voters are also issues that the province is aware of and very concerned about.

However, for projects, especially large ones, the process is quite complex, and the capital required is substantial, so the province has to wait for funding from the central government, leading to extended completion times and causing difficulties for the people.

The head of the Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee hopes that voters will understand, share the government's concerns, and patiently wait.
