According to the child’s father, Mr. VHA (Group 6, Phan Dinh Phung Ward), in the morning of the same day, the parents took the child to school and handed him over to the homeroom teacher. However, at around 12:30, the family was surprised to see the child being brought home safely by a kind woman.
“I was really shocked when I saw my child return home in the middle of the hot noon. Because a 5-year-old child, lacking awareness and self-protection skills, can be in danger when wandering in the middle of crowded streets,” Mr. VHA shared.
After receiving the information, Ms. Luong Thi Hong Tham, Principal of the School, was present at the educational facility, verified and reported to the Department of Education and Training and the People's Committee of Phan Dinh Phung Ward.
The School Board also held a meeting to clarify the incident and the responsibilities of the individuals involved. At the meeting, the individuals recognized their shortcomings and responsibilities for allowing the incident to occur. The school made the following decisions: Reprimanding the homeroom teacher and security guard; reprimanding and dismissing Ms. Ngo Thu Hang, Vice Principal in charge of Phu Lien campus.
In addition to handling personal responsibilities, Bonbee Kindergarten also committed to seriously implementing corrective measures. Specifically, the school reviewed and adjusted the entire handover process, roll call, and student supervision during all time frames, especially lunch break and the end of the school day; required staff, teachers, and employees to uphold their responsibilities, enhance school safety, situation handling skills, and risk management...
The greatest luck is that the child VKN returned home safely, thanks to the help of the people. However, this is also a wake-up call about the management of children in preschools, especially during the so-called "quiet" hours such as lunch break.
In preschools, children’s safety must be a top priority. At this age, children do not have enough awareness and self-protection skills, so even a slight negligence on the part of adults can lead to serious consequences.
Through the above incident, the Department of Education and Training of Thai Nguyen needs to direct a comprehensive review and re-examination of the process of ensuring school safety, especially for preschools. At the same time, re-evaluate each stage in child management; organize skills training for staff, teachers, and security guards; develop internal alarm procedures in case of emergency; increase the application of technology to control entry and exit from schools; student management software to strengthen control and prevent risks...
