Speaking at the opening of the workshop, photographer Tran Thi Thu Dong, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations , President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, emphasized: "We are discussing together the future of Vietnamese photography in an important historical context of the nation - the era of the country's rise with the aspiration to build a strong, prosperous and happy Vietnam."
According to Ms. Thu Dong, there are currently two prominent paradoxes that photography has to face. One is the “deluge of images”, when anyone can be a photographer, raising questions about the boundary between art photography and ordinary recording photography. The other is the challenge of “authenticity”, when using AI can create “realistic” images but not rooted in reality. This threatens the core nature of photography: documentary and authentic.

The workshop attracted 21 presentations from managers, scientists and photographers across the country.
The presentations focused on emphasizing issues that need attention today such as: specific mechanisms and policies on photography; training of human resources, especially young talents; building a photography industry; the combination of photography and other economic sectors such as tourism; theoretical and critical work; improving the capacity of the team of curators and judges; focusing on investing in digital technology infrastructure to promote and commercialize artistic photographic works...

At the same time, propose useful solutions to build and develop Vietnamese photography in the coming time, emphasizing the need to focus on overcoming existing limitations, comprehensively promoting all aspects of state management as well as association work; promoting the creative potential and sense of responsibility of cadres and members; strengthening the social criticism role of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists with state management agencies; continuing to remove difficulties and obstacles of photography; institutionalizing the Party's resolutions on culture, literature and art; developing the Vietnamese photography industry in a modern, integrated direction, imbued with national identity, well meeting the needs of the cultural and spiritual life of the people.
The presentations and comments at the Workshop will be an important basis for the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations and relevant agencies to plan specific and practical strategies in the coming time, aiming to help Vietnamese photography truly "rise", truly shine, and be worthy of the new era of the nation.
