On October 16, the 15th Army Corps - Ministry of National Defense announced that this unit is ready to hand over land to Gia Lai province to build a boarding school for students in the western border communes.
According to Major General Hoang Van Sy, Commander of Army Corps 15, the handover of land for school construction in the border area will be carried out by the unit with a decisive spirit, as quickly as possible, ensuring convenience for Gia Lai province to achieve the goal according to schedule.
Previously, on October 14, Mr. Lam Hai Giang, Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to guide the People's Committees of border communes to coordinate with units of Army Corps 15 to carry out land recovery and compensation for assets on land, to be completed before November 15, to speed up the investment progress of the inter-level primary and secondary boarding school system in 7 western border communes.
Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee has also assigned the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board to be the investor of the project to build a boarding school for primary and secondary levels in 7 border communes. Including the communes: Ia Puch, Ia Mo, Ia O, Ia Chia, Ia Pnôn, Ia Nan, Ia Dom.
Regarding the progress of school construction projects, the Gia Lai Province Investment and Construction Project Management Board said that it has completed the adjustment of the local planning for school construction. The Board has coordinated with the communes to receive the boundaries of the land plots planned for construction; and consulted the communes on choosing the design model.
The communes have agreed to choose model NTB-04 of the Design Institute (Ministry of Construction), designed based on research on the cultural characteristics of ethnic groups in Gia Lai province.
Based on the selected sample, the Project Management Board has designed a detailed master plan of 1/500 suitable for each location, shape, and size of each plot of land. Drafting an investment proposal based on the total number of students, the number of boarding and semi-boarding students, and the number of teachers who need to stay in the dormitory to determine the scale of construction of each project.
Looking forward to the groundbreaking day of the boarding school
Mr. Nguyen Hue, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ia Pnôn border commune, said that the locality is looking forward to the day of groundbreaking for the construction of a boarding school for children in the commune.
Ia Pnôn commune currently has nearly 6,000 people, 90% of whom are Jarai ethnic people. More than 1,000 ethnic students are studying at Luong The Vinh Primary and Secondary School.

According to Mr. Hue, it has been very difficult to get students to go to class, leading to poor quality of education. During the production season, many students drop out of school to work in the fields, not caring about their studies.
Therefore, if the school is invested in spacious facilities, has boarding accommodation, and a place to concentrate on studying, it will be more convenient for children to go to class. In addition, studying in a boarding environment will train them to be independent, disciplined, and better integrate into society when they go out into the world, changing the thinking and working style of ethnic minority children.
