Vietnamese hamburgers among world's top 14 best foods

Hamburgers ranked 14th in the world's top 100 most delicious foods, while Vietnamese cuisine ranked 22nd.

This is according to recent research from the Taste Atlas Awards 2023/24, based on 271,819 food ratings and 80,863 food products.

In the world's best food rankings, the number 1 position belongs to Brazil's picanha beef, which is a delicious cut of meat taken from the rump of a cow with a wonderful flavor.

Coming in second is the Malaysian flatbread roti canai, followed by the Thai stir-fried minced meat phat kophrao. The traditional dish is made with pork or chicken, Thai basil, chili and garlic, served with rice.

The famous Italian pizza Napoletana, topped with tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, basil and olive oil, comes in fourth.

The fifth is guotie - a type of Chinese fried dumpling.

Vietnamese hamburgers ranked 14th with 4.63 points, while beef pho came last in this ranking with 4.47 points. Banh mi and pho are two regular representatives of Vietnam in the list of the world's best dishes and are widely sold in many countries.

Banh mi is considered a combination of Asian and European cuisine when using French baguette and rich fillings such as pate, sausage, spring rolls, roasted meat, grilled meat, pickles, raw vegetables, sauces, chili sauce.

This dish is considered by foreign diners to be easy to eat and cheap, with about a dollar to buy a full loaf of bread.

This is one of the famous street foods and often appears in the list of "must-eat foods when coming to Vietnam" for international tourists. Notably, Hoi An bread was also rated by the late famous chef Anthony Bourdain as "the best bread in the world".

In 2021, CNN 's Travel & Cuisine page (UK) listed 23 "best" sandwiches in the world, including Vietnamese sandwiches.

In this year's ranking of the world's most attractive cuisines, Italy ranked first. According to Taste Atlas experts, Italy and Japan scored the same, but Italy was superior because its pizza was rated higher.

In second place is Japan, followed by Greece, Portugal and China. In Southeast Asia, Indonesian cuisine is ranked 6th and Thai cuisine is ranked 17th, although it has more dishes on the list than Indonesia.

Taste Atlas’ list of the world’s 100 most delicious foods has also sparked debate on the organization’s fan page, which has nearly a million followers. Many people expressed sadness that their favorite dishes did not make the list or did not rank high enough.
