In his opening speech, Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, and President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, emphasized that in order to develop cultural industries, it is necessary to have the cooperation, consensus and promotion of the whole society, in which the press plays a particularly important role. The press is not only a bridge to inspire and promote cultural values, but also a pioneer in spreading initiatives, criticizing policies, contributing to building a healthy cultural environment.
In recent times, many art programs, tourist seasons, and festivals have been branded through the lens of media and press, becoming major cultural and tourism events, attracting a large domestic and international audience. Traditional art forms such as Tuong, Cheo, Cai Luong, Ca Tru, Quan Ho... or talented young artists reaching international level are thanks to the spread and promotion of media and press. Film, youth music, and fashion products introduced by media and press have become trends, helping to expand the consumer market, develop creativity, and integrate Vietnamese culture deeply with the world...
Discussing at the Forum, Mr. Pham Cao Thai, Director of the Legal Department, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that a successful cultural product is not only based on the quality of content or form, but also needs to be accepted by society, trusted in terms of value, meaning, and contribution to the community. The press helps to strengthen that trust through objective articles and in-depth analysis, thereby building prestige and enhancing the competitiveness of cultural products in the domestic and international markets. In particular, in the context of globalization, the press contributes to helping products with Vietnamese identity affirm their position on the global cultural industry map.
From a more specific perspective, Dr. Chu Tien Dat, Chairman of the Board of Members of VTC Corporation, said that the press and media play a key role in promoting the development of the Vietnamese gaming industry to reach the world - a field considered the 8th art, clearly defined in Resolution 162/2024/QH15 of the National Assembly on the development of cultural industry.
"Press and media play an undeniable role in promoting the development of the global gaming industry. From providing information, building communities, promoting products to influencing policies, media channels contribute to creating a dynamic ecosystem," said Dr. Chu Tien Dat.
On the local side, Dr. Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong City, said that the press is considered a part of the cultural industry. The press is both a part of the creative chain and a channel for multi-dimensional impact in creative activities of the cultural industry. In recent times, Hai Phong has issued many policies and devoted many resources to promoting the role of the press in the city in communicating and promoting the image of the city in general and accompanying, promoting and orienting the development of the cultural industry in particular.
In the context of expanding administrative boundaries with Hai Phong merging with Hai Duong, the cultural industry is determined to become a pillar of sustainable development alongside the seaport, logistics and smart urban industries of Hai Phong. Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai expressed her wish to continue receiving close coordination from press agencies to promote the effectiveness of communication, promotion and development of the cultural industry in the new period.
The forum is a key activity in a series of events celebrating the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day. This is an opportunity to share, listen and discuss opportunities and challenges for press media in promoting the development of cultural industries; practical experiences from press media agencies, businesses and creators in promoting cultural industries today; propose solutions and policies to improve the effectiveness of coordination between press, media and cultural industries in the new period.
