The complicated weather is affecting the circulation and supply of goods, especially in areas isolated by floods. In this situation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requires localities to closely monitor market developments and coordinate closely with businesses to ensure the supply of essential goods, stabilize prices, serve people's lives and post-storm recovery work.
In Ho Chi Minh City, many businesses and distributors are working overtime to produce, stockpile and transport food, promptly supplying people and supporting areas affected by natural disasters.
Purchasing power at retail systems has increased significantly in recent days as people proactively stock up on essential goods.
Retailers said they have prepared large reserves of goods and set up warehouses in the vicinity of the affected area to respond promptly when demand increases. The impact of the storm has caused some sources of green vegetables and fresh products to be temporarily interrupted, but they have been immediately supplemented and replaced from other production areas.
For businesses in the price stabilization program, production output is also doubled compared to normal days.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Food and Foodstuff Association, as soon as information about the storm and flood was received, businesses activated their reserve plans, increased production, and were ready to distribute to retail systems, especially to affected areas.
Ms. Ly Kim Chi - President of the Ho Chi Minh City Food and Foodstuff Association said: "Currently, manufacturers are ready to prepare raw materials and capacity so that if demand increases, they will still be able to fully meet it. All businesses are maintaining their selling prices."
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade said the city is implementing a plan to connect supply and demand of goods with localities, mobilizing businesses to participate in stabilizing the market, increasing reserves and expanding the distribution network. This solution aims to ensure stable supply, control prices and meet high consumer demand during the rainy season and the end of the year.
