A total of 3,114 people have been taken to evacuation centers across Eastern Visayas for safety as Typhoon Fung Wong approaches the Philippines, according to the Inquirer .
"As of 5:30 p.m. on November 8, 10 evacuation centers, including four in Biliran and six in Northern Samar, are currently in use. The remaining 2,367 evacuation centers across Eastern Visayas remain on standby should weather conditions worsen," a report from the Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8) said.

The Office of Civil Defense earlier directed local government units to conduct pre-emptive evacuations, especially those living in areas prone to floods or landslides.
To ensure public safety, 38 police officers, comprising 34 from the Biliran Provincial Police Office (BPPO) and four from the Northern Samar Police Office (NSPPO), have been deployed to the affected areas. Of these, 22 are stationed at evacuation centers and seven are guarding other important facilities.
Meanwhile, the 1,714-member RSSF Regional Support Force of PRO-8 has been put on alert for quick action. The Women and Children Protection Department (WCPD) has also deployed nine personnel at evacuation centres to assist vulnerable people.
As of the latest update, there have been no reports of casualties, flooding, landslides, isolated locations or power outages in the area.
However, 572 passengers remained stranded at seaports across the Eastern Visayas region after sea travel was suspended due to the typhoon.
PRO-8 continues to closely monitor the path of Typhoon Fung Wong and coordinate with local government and disaster response units in case evacuation or rescue is required.
