On the evening of February 1, at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace, the Central Organizing Committee coordinated with Nhan Dan Newspaper, Communist Magazine, Vietnam Television and the Vietnam Journalists Association to organize the award ceremony of the 8th National Press Award on Party Building (Golden Hammer and Sickle Award) in 2023.
Attending and presenting the awards were: Nong Duc Manh, former General Secretary; Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Prime Minister; Nguyen Xuan Phuc, former Politburo member, former President; Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, former Politburo member, former Chairwoman of the National Assembly; Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for the National Press Award on Party Building; Pham The Duyet, former Standing member, Standing member of the Politburo, former Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Phan Dinh Trac, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee; Nguyen Hoa Binh , Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court; Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Pham Quang Nghi, former Politburo member, former Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee; Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee's Propaganda and Education Commission; Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee's External Relations Commission; Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President; Tran Hong Ha, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highlighted the country's development achievements in all fields. The Prime Minister affirmed: In 2023, the macro economy will be basically stable, inflation will be controlled; economic growth will be among the highest in the world; culture and society will be focused on, social security will be ensured; politics and social order will be stable, national defense and security will be maintained; foreign affairs and international integration will be comprehensively successful, with historical marks. The fight against corruption and negativity, the fight against manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party will be further strengthened. The work of Party building and rectification, building the political system, and building a contingent of cadres will become increasingly experienced; very positive changes will be created, especially the close, harmonious, and effective combination of "building" and "fighting". The leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Party organization and Party members are increasingly enhanced, contributing to consolidating and strengthening the people's trust in the Party and State.
The achievements of 2023 and the past half-term of the 13th National Party Congress have contributed to important and historic achievements in nearly 40 years of renovation and in the revolutionary cause of our Party, our People, and our Nation over the past nearly 95 years, under the glorious flag of the Party.
According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, “the rich, vivid reality and good results of the cause of national construction and defense; of the work of Party building and rectification; the consensus and trust of the people are valuable sources of material, an unlimited source of inspiration for creating high-quality journalistic works. Through 8 times of organization, the National Press Award on Party building named “Golden Hammer and Sickle” has affirmed its value, attractiveness, and spread to the work of Party building, building the political system and building the contingent of cadres; at the same time, affirming the profound political consciousness, professional ethics and steadfast revolutionary heart of journalists nationwide, worthy of Uncle Ho's teaching: “Journalists are also revolutionary soldiers”.
Evaluating the organization of the Award, the Prime Minister said: “The Steering Committee and Organizing Committee of the 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award have directed the organization to be tight, methodical, scientific and professional under the direction of Comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organizing Committee. Party committees at all levels, ministries, branches and localities have proactively and actively participated and considered participating in the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award as one of the important tasks, at the same time creating a vibrant atmosphere and attracting the attention of all classes of people to the work of Party building, building the contingent of cadres and building the political system. Moreover, the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award is also a forum to express viewpoints, theories, proud history, people's trust and rich practical activities of our Party.”
Recognizing the quality of the 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award, the Prime Minister affirmed: “The works participating in the Award have closely followed the guidelines and viewpoints on Party building work, vividly reflecting political activities in the Party; especially urgent emerging issues such as building culture and ethics in the Party, fighting against the “fear of responsibility disease”, while encouraging and protecting dynamic, creative cadres who dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility for the common good; fighting against corruption and negativity; refuting wrong and distorted viewpoints, protecting the Party's ideological foundation... In addition, the works also proposed solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles, encouraging the spirit, arousing the aspiration for rapid and sustainable national development.”
The Golden Hammer and Sickle Award is an annual award organized by the Central Organizing Committee in coordination with Nhan Dan Newspaper, Communist Magazine, Vietnam Television and the Vietnam Journalists Association to award outstanding press works on Party building in the following aspects: Politics, ideology, ethics, organization and cadres in the fields of organization-cadre work, propaganda, inspection, mass mobilization, foreign affairs, anti-corruption... published and broadcast in various types of press. This year, the Organizing Committee received 2,216 works, an increase of 184 works compared to the previous season. From 120 works selected by the Preliminary Council, the Final Council reviewed and selected outstanding works to award 6 A prizes, 12 B prizes, 18 C prizes, 6 Special prizes and 30 Encouragement prizes.
The three-part investigative report series “Arousing the revolutionary ideal of dedication of young party members - Issues of concern” by author Chu Uyen (pen name Giang Nam), Ha Nam Newspaper won the Special Award “Outstanding work on innovation to improve the quality of political and ideological education”
After the award ceremony, comrade Mai Van Chinh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Award launched the 9th National Press Award on Party Building in 2024.
