Firmly protect the sacred sovereignty of the sea, islands and continental shelf of the Fatherland

Immediately after the country was unified, the country was reunited, and in response to the urgent need to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands in the new situation, on October 26, 1975, Coastal Region 4 was established - now Naval Region 4.

The region is assigned the task of managing and protecting a sea area of ​​over 360,000 km², from Cu Lao Xanh, Binh Dinh province to Mui Ba Kiem, Binh Thuan province, including Truong Sa archipelago, a particularly important strategic position in terms of politics , economy, national defense and security of the country.

After nearly 50 years of building, fighting and growing, right from the first days of its establishment, officers and soldiers of Naval Region 4 have overcome all difficulties and hardships to excellently complete assigned tasks, firmly protect the sovereignty of the sea, islands and island points of Truong Sa archipelago; participate in and excellently complete the noble international mission in Cambodia, and are the core force in the historic CQ-88 campaign.

Efforts to build Naval Region 4 straight to modernity, discipline, and elite.

In recent years, officers and soldiers of Naval Region 4 have always thoroughly grasped the resolutions, guidelines, and policies of the Party and State, and the directives and orders of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense , and the Navy Party Committee and Command.

The entire region has strictly maintained the duty regime, ensuring that forces and means are always at the highest state of combat readiness. Organizing observation, reconnaissance, detecting more than 5 million targets in the air and at sea, advising and directly handling situations at sea well to avoid being passive and surprised, maintaining sovereignty and a peaceful environment at sea.

Faced with the complicated developments of the situation at sea, thousands of officers and soldiers were mobilized to key, difficult and arduous areas, but officers and soldiers always demonstrated their resilience and iron determination, ready to receive and successfully complete all assigned tasks.

To build Naval Region 4 straight to modernity, in recent years, agencies and units in the entire Region have continuously innovated comprehensively, completed training and exercise tasks exceptionally well, contributing to improving the overall quality, level, combat readiness and combat strength of the forces.

The entire Region has closely followed the training motto of "basic, practical, solid", focusing on synchronous and in-depth training; closely following the plan, combat objects, battlefields, organization, organization and weapons and equipment; taking the task of firmly protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands and building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite and modern unit as the training goal.

With a spirit of inquisitiveness and eagerness to learn, officers and soldiers of the units quickly mastered and effectively exploited many modern weapons and technical equipment, meeting mission requirements; excellently completing new training contents and subjects of high difficulty.

The unit also increased night training, training in complex weather conditions; training and confrontation exercises; successfully organized firing of missiles equipped on combat ships, shore missiles... and newly equipped weapons.

Through major exercises organized by the Ministry of National Defense and the Navy, the forces of Naval Region 4 have clearly affirmed their mettle, intelligence, and level of combat coordination, and have completely mastered new and modern weapons and equipment, meeting the requirements of the task of protecting the sovereignty of the sea and the Fatherland in the new situation.

Implementing the motto "Helping people is a combat mission in peacetime, an order from the heart of a soldier"; every officer and soldier of Naval Region 4 always thoroughly grasps and well implements the guiding ideology: "When people need, when people are in trouble, there are Navy soldiers", always considering the task of protecting people's lives and property as the most important task, the sacred and noble responsibility of a soldier.

Regardless of storms, rough waves or harsh, dangerous conditions at sea, whenever fishermen are in distress, forces and vehicles from Region 4 quickly depart, mobilize and arrive in time to rescue the fishermen.

At the same time, the entire Region continues to effectively implement many programs and creative approaches to contribute to building a "people's heart position" and a people's war position at sea.

Specifically, the program "Vietnam Navy is a support for fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea", "Navy sponsors fishermen's children"...

In the past 10 years alone, Naval Region 4 has conducted more than 650 search and rescue missions; provided first aid and treatment to over 6,000 fishermen; rescued over 200 fishing boats in distress to safety; mobilized tens of thousands of officers, soldiers and hundreds of vehicles of all kinds to support local people in preventing and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters. Each island, island point, and each ship of Naval Region 4 is truly a fulcrum and a solid belief for fishermen to go offshore.

Naval Region 4 conducts amphibious combat training, ready to fight in all situations

Along with the rescue mission, officers and soldiers of Region 4 also actively participate in mass mobilization activities, build close relationships with the locality; promptly support socio-economic development programs, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, new rural construction; organize medical examination and treatment, provide free medicine, visit and give gifts to policy families, people in difficult circumstances with a total support value of up to tens of billions of VND.

The images of officers and soldiers of Naval Region 4 overcoming big waves and strong winds to save people, wholeheartedly accompanying the development of the locality where they are stationed have left many good feelings and impressions. These efforts continue to deepen the image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers - Navy soldiers" in the new era in the hearts of the people.

In recognition of the unit's achievements, President To Lam recently signed a decision to confer the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" on the Naval Region 4 Command.

According to Rear Admiral Nguyen Anh Tuan, Commander of Naval Region 4, this noble award is a great source of encouragement and motivation for officers and soldiers in the entire Region to continue to strive to successfully complete all tasks assigned by the Party, State and people.
