"Sac Que 4" is the third consecutive solo exhibition in a short time by artist Quynh Thom, marking her journey of persistent, serious and emotional artistic work. With 72 works on display, from paintings of countryside landscapes, daily life to abstract works with deep inner meaning, the exhibition has created an artistic space imbued with Vietnamese culture, strongly connecting with viewers with its rustic beauty and sustainable cultural spirit.
In the context of an increasingly diverse art market, paintings imbued with memories and national identity are becoming a trend pursued by many collectors. Especially, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of national reunification, works recreating old roofs, village roads, ponds, rivers, rice fields... have created a special attraction.

At the exhibition space, artist Luong Xuan Doan, Chairman of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, was present to share and express his respect for the persistent artistic journey of artist Quynh Thom. He observed each painting, then stopped in front of a large work depicting a scene of the afternoon fields and shared: Quynh Thom paints with all her heart. The artist does not follow trends, does not try to do anything new to attract attention, but chooses a quiet, persistent, and kind path. That is a very precious thing in the life of fine arts.
The President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association also acknowledged Quynh Thom's serious, meticulous work ethic and constant innovation in her expression through each exhibition. Love for the homeland and national culture is not a new thing in art, but if expressed with sincerity, it always moves viewers. Painter Luong Xuan Doan further emphasized that in the context of contemporary art, the fact that an artist chooses to stick with the rural, lyrical paintings that carry the breath of Vietnamese culture in a steadfast manner is a welcome sign because it helps preserve the "soul" of national fine arts in the modern flow. The exhibition not only shows her skills, but more importantly, it shows her "ethics" so that we believe that the artist still maintains her heart in each painting and will go far.

Mr. Kien Tran - a long-time collector in Ho Chi Minh City bought a plane ticket to Hanoi in mid-May just to visit the exhibition and choose a satisfactory painting. He shared: "Quynh Thom's paintings preserve the atmosphere and soul of the Vietnamese countryside, a place I have been away from for decades. I chose to buy two paintings, one to hang, one to give to my friend who is an overseas Vietnamese living in Germany."
Although it has entered its final days, the exhibition "Countryside Colors 4" still attracts a large number of visitors. Many works were "sold out" on the spot. Large-scale paintings, painted outdoors, capturing the scenery of the Northern countryside are attracting attention due to their aesthetic value and also because of their valuable documentary value when many of these scenes are gradually disappearing under the pressure of urbanization.
Mr. Jean-Claude Martin, a tourist from France, stood for a long time in front of the landscape painting "Afternoon in the Countryside" and shared with his quiet eyes. "The first time I came to Vietnam, I didn't think I would be so moved by just one painting. When I looked at the old roofs, areca rows, rice fields and looming figures, I felt like I was standing in the middle of a certain memory, not just of the Vietnamese, but of the common memories of peaceful and simple places that all peoples once had." Mr. Jean-Claude added that what impressed him most was the emotion in the painting: "Without explanation, artist Quynh Thom's paintings made me feel life. I saw nature, people, breath, light and regret. Perhaps it was that sincere value that made his paintings touch the hearts of viewers, no matter where they came from."

Collector and artist's delight. |
In addition to domestic collectors, many international collectors and tourists also expressed their special affection for Quynh Thom's paintings. Ms. Margaret Wilson - an American tourist - emotionally shared: "I feel like I am living in stories told in colors. Each of these images helps me understand more about the beauty of everyday life and the depth of Vietnamese culture."
As well as being a painter, artist Quynh Thom is also considered a "cultural ambassador" of the countryside because of the way he expresses his deep attachment to his homeland through each brushstroke. His sincerity, honesty and closeness also contribute to making art lovers trust and attach to his works.

Art critic Mai Thi Ngoc Oanh, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, commented: "Quynh Thom has a very harmonious combination of technique, emotion and spirit of continuing tradition. He is one of the few young artists who persistently pursues the theme of his homeland in a consistent and profound manner."
"I paint to preserve what is being lost. Each painting is a slice of memory, a silent tribute to my homeland," artist Quynh Thom shared.

The paintings have been carefully preserved for international visitors to take home. |
The exhibition is also a meeting place for many generations: from the elderly who want to rediscover their childhood memories, to the young generation who love contemporary Vietnamese art, and even international friends who love Vietnamese culture. The space on the first and second floors of the Exhibition House at 16 Ngo Quyen is still bustling with stories about paintings, about the homeland, about a simple and profound Vietnam.
In the not-so-sophisticated exhibition space, Quynh Thom's medium and large-sized works stand out with bright colors, strong brushstrokes while still maintaining simplicity. Each work is like a piece of the soul of the countryside, rustic but moving. It is no coincidence that "Sac Que 4" takes place at a time when the whole country celebrates the 50th anniversary of reunification. In this special context, the countryside paintings seem even more emotional. It is not simply a visual art but also an echo of gratitude to the past, honoring cultural values and the desire for peace .

International collectors love Quynh Thom's paintings filled with countryside colors. |
Another reason why Quynh Thom's paintings "sold out" at this exhibition is the personality and style of the author. Many collectors commented: The paintings are beautiful, of course, and in fact many artists' paintings are also very beautiful, but his sincere and approachable personality, stories about people and the countryside filled with nostalgia and memories also make them trust and love him.
As someone who has followed him since his first exhibition, collector Le Phuong commented: "Quynh Thom does not paint life, but paints as if breathing, as if telling stories with his heart. As simple as he is in real life, his paintings are as sincere."

One by one the paintings were dismantled to go to collectors. |
In the space of the 16 Ngo Quyen Exhibition Hall, the image of artist Quynh Thom is always present as a sincere friend of each visitor who comes to enjoy the exhibition. He gently chats, listens, and enthusiastically guides viewers to each work with a warm voice, his eyes shining with excitement and passion. Especially for international visitors, he introduces his paintings in simple English that he has cultivated himself, and also uses his paintings to tell many stories about customs, memories and life in Vietnamese villages - things that seem small but surprisingly move many people.
Many people ask me if I regret seeing my paintings go away one by one. Yes! But it is a regret in happiness. I do not keep the paintings for myself. I am just the one who recounts a memory that is fading away. Each painting has its own journey, like children growing up and entering a larger world .

When Mr. Jean-Claude Martin expressed his intention to buy the painting of a ripe rice field at sunset, the artist himself removed the painting from the frame, cleaned every speck of dust, carefully rolled it up and packaged it carefully. He also instructed on how to preserve and prevent moisture when bringing it back to Europe and did not forget to handwrite a small message along with it. A Japanese tourist who witnessed the scene told the exhibition staff: "This artist takes care of the painting as if it were a part of his heart." It is the thoughtfulness from the way he welcomes, guides to view the painting, to every small step when preparing to send the painting that has created the unique identity of artist Quynh Thom: An artist who brings the soul of the countryside into the painting, bringing humanity into every moment of contact with the public.

The colors of the Northern homeland attract viewers. |
Sharing in the late afternoon when seeing an international guest off from the exhibition with the painting of their hometown, artist Quynh Thom slowly expressed: "I am grateful that the paintings are well received, but to me, what is more precious is the emotions people carry with them after each painting. Selling paintings is not "selling" memories but spreading them. The more people want to keep a moment of their hometown, whether to hang in the living room in the middle of the city or to bring to a faraway country, the more I believe that simple things still have a place in people's hearts."

Painter Quynh Thom also has love for many regions across the country. |
He stopped, looked around the exhibition space where the paintings were gradually disappearing, leaving empty walls, and then added with emotion in his eyes: "Many people ask me if I regret seeing the paintings gradually disappear. Yes! But it is a regret in happiness. I do not keep the paintings for myself. I am just the one who recounts a memory that is fading away. Each painting has its own journey, like children growing up and entering a larger world. I am happy that they reach the place they need to go, where there are people who cherish the beauty of peace."
That is also the reason why, despite not being widely promoted, "Country Colors 4" still spread strongly, touching the hearts of many people, even those who have never lived in a Vietnamese countryside. Amidst the turbulent flow of contemporary art, Quynh Thom's exhibition represents a rustic spirit: authentic art, imbued with the breath of national culture, always has a solid position. And when the artist maintains a pure soul and love for the homeland, their paintings will always have vitality in the country and at the same time reach out to the world.
