Barca won La Liga, Hansi Flick said something special about Yamal

The 2024/25 La Liga title was officially decided, as Barcelona with Lamine Yamal leading the attack won 2-0 against Espanyol at Cornella.

Lamine Yamal broke the deadlock in the Catalunya derby with a superb goal early in the second half. He then assisted Fermin Lopez to seal the 2-0 result in favor of Barca in stoppage time.

Hansi Flick expressed his happiness after winning the La Liga title in his first season leading Barca.

“I think the second half of the season was really great, we didn’t lose a single game,” Hansi Flick enthused. “I congratulate the team, the club and the fans. It was really great.”

Flick praised the competitive mentality: “It is always important to have a strong mentality. What we did in training after the break helped a lot.

Winning the Super Cup also gives confidence. The players have reached their peak form, like De Jong and many others have also improved significantly."

In the derby, Espanyol defended well and had dangerous chances. Lamine Yamal's masterpiece made the difference.

“During the warm-up, Lamine Yamal scored two goals like that,” Flick revealed. He praised the 17-year-old: “That move was perfect.”

Lamine Yamal has now scored 17 goals and provided 21 assists in all competitions this season. In La Liga, his tally is 8 goals and 13 key passes.

The German coach also commented: “This is not La Liga for Lamine, or for Flick. This is La Liga for Barcelona. We are all important. The collective is the key.

Barca is a family. We do a great job, with a great spirit and attitude.

Assessing the season as a whole, the former Bayern Munich coach said: “This has been a very good year, but we still have the potential to go further. We will continue to work to become better and better.”
