450 fake Rolex watches seized from China

Customs authorities identified 450 wristwatches as counterfeit Rolex watches. The total value of the infringing goods is estimated at about 45 billion VND.

Information from the Customs Department on June 17 said that on the same day, at the customs operation area of ​​Tra Linh international border gate, Anti-smuggling Control Team No. 1 (Team 1) - Anti-smuggling Investigation Department (Customs Department) discovered and coordinated with Tra Linh international border gate Customs - Customs Department of Region VI to physically inspect all goods contained in a container transported from China with signs of violations.

The declared goods are consumer goods, total weight over 24 tons.

As a result of the physical inspection of the goods, the customs authority discovered that in addition to the goods consistent with the declaration of the customs declarant, there were many undeclared goods, including 450 wristwatches suspected of infringing intellectual property rights for the ROLEX trademark.

At the same time, the shipment contained many other general merchandise (cosmetics, lighters, power banks, bras, car lights, etc.).

At the time of inspection, the enterprise could not present documents related to intellectual property.

Therefore, the customs authority has coordinated to take samples for examination.

Initial inspection results and work with relevant parties determined that the 450 watches mentioned above are counterfeit Rolex branded goods.

According to the representative of the intellectual property rights owner, the above shipment is estimated to have a total value of about 45 billion VND based on the price of genuine goods.

Previously, from June 1 to June 15, Team 1 also proactively collected information, identified key points, exchanged and coordinated with Tra Linh International Border Gate Customs - Region VI Customs Branch to promptly inspect, detect and arrest 4 similar violations.

Violations include: over 5,700 products (clothes, handbags, sports shoes) counterfeiting the brands TOMMY, CELINE, NIKE, LOUIS VUITON, LACOSTE, ADIDAS, NEW BALANCE and many other non-customs goods, including over 700 pairs of sports shoes counterfeiting the brands ADIDAS, NEW BALANCE and counterfeiting the origin of Vietnam.
