According to the latest statistics from Launchmetrics, the 2023 Cannes Film Festival will generate a total Media Impact Value (MIV) of up to 1.3 billion USD (about 30.5 trillion VND).

MIV calculates the monetary value that stars and influencers earn through their appearances on various media, including SNS (Social Networking Service). It takes into account factors such as media influence, content quality, and virality.

Meanwhile, last year's festival season generated 724.4 million USD (more than 17 trillion VND) in MIV, more than the Oscar Awards event of 658.6 million USD (more than 15 trillion VND) and the Venice Film Festival of 154.1 million USD (more than 3.6 trillion VND).

According to Launchmetrics, the appearance of Jennie (BlackPink) and other Kpop stars contributed significantly to the MIV of this year's Cannes Film Festival. This created a media value of up to 1.9 million USD (about 44.6 billion VND) in her first appearance at Cannes.

“With the global popularity of the group BlackPink, it is no surprise that Jennie took the No. 1 spot in MIV with a salary of 1.9 million USD," Launchmetrics commented.

This also helps brands that work with Jennie to bring in huge profits, typically the Chanel brand - the brand Jennie is an ambassador for.

“Jennie contributed significantly to Chanel’s overall MIV at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Chanel earned $26.2 million (over VND615 billion) and secured the fourth spot among luxury brands. Chopard took the top spot, followed by Dior in second and L’Oréal in third.

As K-pop's influence grows, Korea is seen as a great opportunity for luxury brands, and much of the credit goes to BlackPink, who pioneered the field and paved the way for future stars in the country. Now, in addition to Chanel, Prada, Gucci, Saint Laurent, Celine has chosen new K-pop stars as ambassadors," said US fashion media WWD.

Previously, NetBase Quid announced that Jennie led the Top 10 most mentioned stars on social media during the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. Following her were the names: Rosé, Aespa, Hyunjin...

Additionally, according to Twitter Fashion, Cannes' official hashtag, #JENNIEatCANNES (900,000 mentions) is the most mentioned hashtag on Twitter.

This year, Jennie came to the festival as a supporting actress in the movie "The Idol". The movie was directed by Sam Levinson, who was successful with the movie Euphoria. This series of movies has the participation of The Weeknd, Lily-Rose Depp, Troye Sivan and Jennie.

The 6-episode series tells the story of the female lead character Jocelyn (Lily Rose Depp), a music idol who suffers a mental breakdown that causes the biggest tour of her career to be canceled.

Jocelyn is determined to rise up and regain her title as America's sexiest female idol. However, on that journey, she meets and falls into a complicated relationship with the leader of a mysterious cult (The Weeknd).

Therefore, the film is labeled 18+ and is considered pornographic, erotic with all-night parties and drugs.
