Closing of the Workshop "Local Government of Vietnam"

At the Closing Ceremony, Deputy Minister Truong Hai Long said that the Workshop attracted the participation of 100 delegates who are leaders, local administrative officials, representatives of central agencies related to local government and local administration in Vietnam and nearly 20 delegates who are leaders, officials and public employees of the Ministry of Home Affairs of Vietnam and the Japanese Media.

The workshop also devoted special time to the discussion between each topic to clarify and deepen issues related to the reality of local administrative management in Vietnam, listen to an overview of the Japanese local government system, the division of work between the central and local governments in Japan as well as the allocation of financial resources; local decentralization; experiences in applying digital transformation in Japan and Vietnam in local administrative management, some issues on urban management, the relationships between the central government and local governments in implementing local government management in the two countries; promoting regional linkages, policies and ways of organizing specialized agencies in local government models to enhance the effectiveness of regional linkage policies; the cooperation and twinning between Vietnamese and Japanese localities as well as the efforts of local governments in management mechanisms to support local economic development and growth.

The Deputy Minister said that this workshop is an opportunity for Vietnam and Japan to exchange information, viewpoints, management methods as well as share experiences in organizing, coordinating construction and implementation in practice. At the same time, the two sides also shared the difficulties and challenges in local government management that have been and are facing. From there, they will discuss and propose solutions suitable to the actual situation of each country.

The experiences in local administrative management from Japan shared by the speakers are really useful for Vietnam. On that basis, Vietnamese localities will study, consider, and select to be able to apply appropriately to each locality.
