Great ambition, long-term vision.

Commenting on tourism in Ca Mau, Ms. Pham Thi Khanh, Vice President of the Vietnam Tourism Association, expressed her belief that the merger will not only multiply internal strengths but also make the aspiration for tourism development greater and clearer.

That vision is gradually becoming a reality as Ca Mau province approves the General Planning Task for the Ca Mau Cape National Tourist Area until 2050. This decision reflects a decisive spirit from the very beginning of the term, with a strategic vision aimed at creating momentum to promote strong growth.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thanh, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: “Identifying the Ca Mau Cape Tourist Area as a national tourist area, and simultaneously including the Nha Mat - Bac Lieu area in the group of potential locations for national tourist area development, is the official basis for the province to prioritize resources, focus investment, and carry out tasks to ensure that it meets the conditions for recognition. When positioned at the national level, these areas will receive attention and support in terms of infrastructure, promotion, planning, and creating favorable conditions for the province to implement strategic steps in a systematic and correct manner.”

The Bac Lieu Wind Farm tourist site is located within the Nha Mat area's tourism development zone.

With numerous advantages converging after the merger, Ca Mau's establishment of two key development zones is not only a move to immediately position development spaces and tourism brands, but also demonstrates a clear, long-term strategic vision in building distinctive and highly competitive tourism products. This is a necessary and urgent factor in the context of Ca Mau needing to create uniformity in image, brand, and especially the direction of tourism development throughout the province.

"Even though she's the youngest, she dresses up better."

Compared to other provinces and cities in the region, Ca Mau faces numerous disadvantages in tourism development, including its distance from key national tourist hubs; weak and poorly connected transportation infrastructure; and a limited number of high-quality tourism products and services. However, the province does not view these weaknesses as obstacles, but rather as driving forces for innovative development thinking. The solutions and directions for building two national tourism zones are the clearest evidence of this "reverse thinking."

Recognizing that planning is the "guiding principle" for development, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is closely coordinating with relevant departments and agencies, along with Dat Mui and Dat Moi communes, to select key areas for the tourist zone, sub-zones, tourist attractions, gateway areas, main ports, landscape axes, and areas for nature and cultural conservation, in accordance with the overall development plan for the Mui Ca Mau National Tourist Area. To create a development space with a unique identity and avoid fragmented and overlapping investments, the units prioritize research into specific riverine areas, optimizing the exploitation of marine and forest tourism resources in conjunction with the development of waterway transportation.

Determined to turn challenges into opportunities, Ca Mau province views the investment environment as the key to attracting investors with vision and vision. Therefore, the province focuses on perfecting mechanisms and procedures, publicly listing projects seeking investment in two key areas designated for national tourism development. Simultaneously, it selects capable investors who align with the national tourism development plan, prioritizing large-scale projects with significant potential.

The unique cultural colors of the Khmer people are a potential asset for Ca Mau to develop tourism.

Mr. Pham Manh Cuong, Secretary General of the Vietnam Tourism Association, stated: “With its unique natural and cultural conditions, Ca Mau has the potential to develop tourism in a green and sustainable direction. Identifying key areas for the development of national tourism zones in Ca Mau is in line with this development goal. Besides preparing well in terms of routes, the development of national tourism zones needs to focus on connectivity with products within the province and the region, thereby building programs suitable for each market.”

In this new context, Ca Mau is preparing itself for tourism development with great aspirations and a long-term vision to transform policy decisions into resources and actions to steer the Ca Mau tourism ship towards the open sea.
