(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of February 20, comrade Le Tien Chau, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the Hai Phong Delegation of National Assembly Deputies, made a field survey trip to Cat Ba National Park, Cat Hai District. Accompanying him were comrades: Pham Van Lap, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Council; Le Anh Quan, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee and leaders of relevant departments and branches.

The Secretary of the City Party Committee and the delegation directly surveyed the 9 km long hiking route through Cat Ba National Park, from the starting point of the center of the Park to Viet Hai Commune. Cat Ba National Park is one of the world 's biosphere reserves and a special-use forest with the richest biodiversity in Vietnam. It is the first National Park in the country to be established with both forest and marine ecosystems. In 2004, Cat Ba National Park located in the Cat Ba archipelago was recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve.

In 2023, Cat Ba archipelago will be recognized as a World Natural Heritage along with Ha Long Bay, in which the Park is one of the highlights along with the complex of bays in Cat Ba archipelago. With its biodiversity values, the National Park will be a destination that attracts a large number of tourists, especially international tourists, and has many potentials and advantages that need to be invested in and developed in the coming time.

Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau also visited, encouraged and presented spring gifts to cadres and civil servants of Viet Hai commune - one of the island communes far from the mainland of Cat Hai district. Viet Hai commune currently has 87 households with nearly 300 people, of which more than 40 households work in tourism and services. With the attention of the city and Cat Hai district, the commune is increasingly developing, the average income per capita of the commune has increased thanks to the development of eco-tourism and community tourism.

Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau is pleased with the development of Viet Hai today; agrees with the orientation of developing the local tourism and service model. With its potential and advantages, the Secretary of the City Party Committee suggested that Cat Hai district should study and develop a project on developing eco-tourism, developing service industries with high added value; at the same time, he suggested that the Department of Tourism and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development support the district and guide the commune to develop suitable economic models, modern and civilized eco-tourism methods, contributing to increasing income and improving the lives of the island commune's people.
