On the morning of May 13, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen awarded the 80-year Party membership badge to party member Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh (Nguyen Thi Binh, 99 years old, pre-uprising cadre), session May 19.
At the house of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh in Ward 13, Tan Binh District, the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee kindly asked about her health and life.
Mr. Nen congratulated Mrs. Binh on receiving the 80-year Party membership badge, wishing her to always live happily and healthily, and continue to pass on the torch to future generations.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh was born on September 1, 1926 in Do Luong district, Nghe An province. She was a pre-uprising cadre, former head of the Committee for the Protection of Mothers and Children in Phu Khanh province (now Khanh Hoa province). She officially joined the Party in October 1947, and is now active in the Party cell of Ward 23, Party Committee of Ward 13, Tan Binh district.


Before 1950, Ms. Binh worked for the women's association, then was in charge of youth and militia work. In March 1949, she was captured by the enemy.
After being released from prison, she studied middle and high level politics at Truong Chinh school opened by the Central Office for Southern Vietnam in the South. In 1954, she worked for the women's association in Ninh Thuan province, then transferred to work at the provincial party committee, in charge of building typical communes in guerrilla war zones and collecting agricultural taxes.
From September 1954 to June 1961, she gathered in the North, worked as an officer of the Central Women's Union, and then was in charge of mobilizing female workers, civil servants, and women in Hanoi .
From July 1961 to October 1971, she was an official of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and in November 1979, she worked at the Committee for the Protection of Mothers and Children of Phu Khanh province (now Khanh Hoa).
