O Lam commune leaders surveyed landslide sites.
The team surveyed the concrete road along Tam Ngan canal (An Luong hamlet), from overpass No. 2 to overpass No. 1, adjacent to Tri Ton commune. This area has over 1,000m of road protection corridor that has collapsed, some sections eating into the soil and rocks under the concrete layer of the road surface about 10cm.
The cause of the landslide was that this area was home to large barges anchored and transporting construction stones of Antra Joint Venture Company. When other waterway vehicles circulated, the water pressure hit the roadside, causing the landslide. Some sections were reinforced with Melaleuca piles by the company.
Party Secretary and Chairwoman of the People's Council of O Lam Commune, Mai Thi The, requested the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects of Region IV to work with the road investor and quickly implement measures to reinforce and prevent landslides.
At the same time, the specialized departments are requested to work with Antraco Joint Venture Company to install signs for parking areas, prohibited parking areas for barges and water vehicles. The Commune People's Committee invites relevant units to organize dialogues to find directions for investment, upgrading and construction of embankments to protect the road.
Visit and survey flooded areas and grasp farmers' production situation.
The delegation came to survey the subsidence point at the concrete road along Tam Ngan canal, near bridge 19, about 70m long, the deepest subsidence was about 1.5m; there was a section of nearly 20m where the water level was close to the road surface... The Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Council of O Lam commune requested the specialized department to contact the units, calculate the cost of upgrading and mobilize people to build sandbags for reinforcement.
On the same day, the delegation visited the rice production sub-region on the east and west banks of Sa Lon canal, with over 1,000 hectares of rice nearly 40 days old. Due to the rising water level of Sa Lon canal, the amount of water flowing through the sluices and reservoirs into the rice fields, farmers had to hire the owners of the water lines to regularly pump and drain to protect production.
Comrade Mai Thi The requested the Economic Department to regularly monitor production situation, flood water level and high tide, promptly advise commune leaders on handling to minimize damage when bad situations occur.
