On the morning of July 29, after 5 days of moving the school from Phu Cat airport to Kep airport and just 1 day after successfully organizing a flight training team to observe the terrain and airspace of Kep airport for officers and flight instructors of the Regiment to carry out the mission of flying to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025),
Immediately after receiving the mission of Regiment 940, the Air Force Officer School determinedly and urgently prepared to conduct flight training with 6 Yak-130 aircraft in a diamond-shaped formation in the Bac Ninh airspace, in order to quickly match the formation with other flying units according to the scenario requested by superiors.

In order for the formation of 6 Yak-130 aircraft to be able to take off at 7:00 a.m. to carry out the mission, at 3:00 a.m. the technical force of Regiment 940 urgently carried out the task of checking and adjusting the parameters of the 6 aircraft to be ready to take off for training according to plan.

Under the command, direction and close coordination of Regiment 927 (Division 371) and other units in the flight team, three types of equipment, Su-30, L-39LG and Yak-130, were trained at Kep airport. The Yak-130 aircraft were ordered to take off in formation of 3 aircraft 1.
After maneuvering steadily from an altitude of 600-1000m, the pilots controlled 6 Yak-130 aircraft to reduce altitude, join the formation, and form a diamond shape through the simulated grandstand area at low altitude, with stable distance, spacing, and height difference. During the formation, the pilots strictly followed the flight data.

The image of 6 planes soaring in the air with the roaring sounds of the engines, shows the powerful power of the Southern wings flying in the Northern sky.
Talking with Colonel Nguyen Van Son - Commander of Regiment 940, we learned that: The Regiment successfully conducted training on flying a formation of 6 aircraft after a few days of transfer because the unit has a team of pilots experienced in flying large formations (from 3,4,5 aircraft); before moving to Kep airport, the unit also proactively developed a plan, the departments coordinated and cooperated closely and before that, successfully organized a flight training team of 6 aircraft in a diamond shape at Phu Cat airport.
In particular, in 2023, the officers and flight instructors of the Regiment had been mobilized to carry out training missions and participate in long-term exercises at Kep airport and the Northern region, so they were quite familiar with the terrain, security conditions, and weather and meteorological factors. In addition to the fundamental advantages, the unit also encountered many difficulties.

Currently, Regiment 940 performs many intertwined missions, with troops dispersed across 3 airports (Kep, Tuy Hoa, Phu Cat); weather conditions at Kep airport are often cloudy, affecting visibility, especially formation flights with close distances and low altitudes.
However, with determination and effort for the mission, the unit proactively built a plan, assigned specific tasks to the participating forces, especially the pilots who performed well in flight preparation, organized the study of airport regulations, coordinated work between flight commanders and grasped flight route data between the numbers in the formation.
With careful and scientific preparation, in the flight team forming the first 6 planes in the sky above Kep airport area, Regiment 940 successfully completed 7 flights in a neat and even formation through the simulated grandstand area, ensuring absolute safety.
This initial success is a solid foundation for the officers, pilots and support elements of Regiment 940 to continue to be determined to excellently perform the training mission, ready for joint training, comprehensive training, preliminary rehearsal, general rehearsal and official flight on the great festival of the country.
