Billiards: Korean beauty impresses, beats male player in Ho Chi Minh City

The competition day 3.8 of the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards & Snooker Federation (HBSF) Round 2 - Min Table Cup 2025 was extremely exciting with 4 events competing. Notably, the Korean female player impressed in the men's 9-ball pool event.

Two Korean female players, Han Soye and Kim Hyerim, surprised everyone when they decided to register to compete in the men's 9-ball pool event - HBSF billiards tournament, round 2, 2025, competing with strong Vietnamese male players in the official round.

In the opening match on August 3, Han Soye won convincingly 7-3 against Le Duc Thanh. She showed excellent form from the start, quickly leading 4-1. Duc Thanh then rose up and won 2 consecutive games, reducing the score to 3-4 before the break. In the second set, Han Soye once again asserted her class, handling difficult situations well and winning the overall match to continue in the winners' bracket.

Female player Kim Hyerim lost to veteran player Quach Vi Nam 5-7 after a dramatic score chase. Specifically, Quach Vi Nam started well when leading 2-0. Kim Hyerim quickly equalized the score 2-2. After that, Vi Nam had a series of 3 consecutive wins, temporarily leading 5-2 after the first set. In the second set, Kim Hyerim showed her tenacious fighting spirit when she also won 3 consecutive games, tying the score 5-5. However, Quach Vi Nam took advantage of the opportunity better and won the match.

In the loser bracket with Kim Hyerim, there are also many other good players such as Tat Duy Kien, Ho So Phat, Nguyen Phuong Thao...

New candidate for "best game" award of 3-cushion carom billiards

Also on August 3, the men's 3-cushion carom event took place in round 2 of the main round. With the participation of many good players, this was a competition day that witnessed many matches of high professional quality, with a scoring efficiency of more than 2,000 points.

Notably, Nguyen Thanh Phi beat Nguyen Minh Vu with a score of 35-23, after only 13 turns. Thanh Phi's efficiency was 2.692 (points/turn), taking the lead in the "best game" award.

Famous names who continued after this round include Le Quoc Ho, Chau Hong Thai, Pham Quoc Thuan, Van Hoang Ba, Nguyen Huu Thanh, Ho Hoang Hung... Unfortunately, the tournament also had to say goodbye to some famous players such as Thon Viet Hoang Minh, Truong Quang Hao, Le Hoang Kim, Ma Xuan Cuong, Nguyen Hoan Tat, Nguyen Thanh Tung.

On August 4, the penultimate day of the tournament, all four events will be played until the end of the round of 16 to determine the best players to qualify for the quarterfinals. Notably, this is also the day when the 3-cushion carom event will compete in the third round of the main round, where the top players in Vietnam today will participate, such as Tran Quyet Chien, Bao Phuong Vinh, Tran Thanh Luc, Chiem Hong Thai, etc.
