Clean, smart production
In 2023, Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoa (Lam Dong province) and some friends came to Tam Ngan 2 village to establish Lam Son Agricultural - Tourism Cooperative, with a total capital of 4.5 billion VND, implementing a model of growing fruit trees according to VietGAP standards combined with experiential eco-tourism, on a total area of 41 hectares. After 2 years of operation, up to now, the Cooperative has increased the production area to nearly 53 hectares, growing the following trees: Coconut, jackfruit, rambutan, grapefruit, durian, banana, purple taro, passion fruit, papaya, rice and 7 hectares of eco-tourism development. In particular, there are 16 hectares applying IoT technology (internet of things), automating the production process, caring for crops, strictly following organic farming processes.

Sharing the reason for choosing Lam Son as a place to start a business, Mr. Hoa said: “Lam Son is favored by nature, with a cool climate and relatively fertile land, ensuring that the fruits have rich flavors and high quality... Besides, in recent years, the local Party Committee and government have paid great attention to and effectively implemented policies to attract investment in building and developing specialty fruit growing areas associated with tourism development. Thereby, helping the locality form many groups to develop garden tourism. Farmers are increasingly aware and have a production mindset in the direction of concentration and specialization to create safe, high-quality, branded products to meet market demand... These are favorable conditions for the cooperative to implement the proposed development orientation".
Perfecting the production value chain
In addition to producing according to VietGAP standards, Lam Son Agricultural - Tourism Cooperative pays special attention to preliminary processing, preservation, ensuring quality products to consumers. Currently, the Cooperative is building a preliminary processing and processing workshop for agricultural products for export, expected to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2025. Mr. Hoa said that the products produced by the Cooperative all meet VietGAP standards, along with the application of high technology in the preservation and processing stages, not only helping the Cooperative to fully utilize and exploit the value of the products, but also proactively taking the initiative in input, balancing output, not worrying about the situation of good harvest and low price. The value of agricultural products after processing promises to be 7-8 times higher than that of fresh products. In addition, the Cooperative is also building a mechanical workshop to produce greenhouses and membrane houses according to high-tech agricultural standards to supply the Cooperative and the domestic market, expected to be completed and put into operation by the end of the year, which will help the Cooperative increase revenue and profit.

In the field of tourism - services, the Cooperative has invested in building a system of restaurants, cafes, entertainment areas, accommodation, OCOP showrooms... attracting many tourists, especially families and schools in and outside the province to visit and experience many interesting activities such as: Teaching children to grow vegetables, building community gardens; playing folk games; lighting campfires, singing together... Initially, the total revenue of the Cooperative reached 1.8 billion VND/year, creating stable jobs for nearly 100 local workers.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoa added: "The cooperative strives to expand the production area to 100 hectares; at the same time, continue to complete the system of restaurants, cafes, entertainment areas, accommodation, OCOP showrooms and develop many new tourism - service models, towards forming "Lam Son Eco-tourism Village" by the end of 2030. The cooperative hopes to receive guidance and support from potential investors and local authorities; access preferential loans from the State to invest in modern production equipment. At the same time, participate in forums and seminars on startups with experts; visit and learn about effective business and economic development models, in order to improve production and business activities, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality".
Mr. Nguyen Trung Dung - Chairman of the Provincial Cooperative Union assessed: "Lam Son Tourism - Agriculture Cooperative is a new type of cooperative operating effectively. In the coming time, the Provincial Cooperative Union will coordinate with related units to actively support and create all conditions for the cooperative to participate in markets and conferences connecting producers, businesses and consumers; help the unit promote and introduce products, grasp market demand; approach, cooperate and sign more partners to consume products".
