Binh Duong: Continue to reach TOP 7 World Smart Communities in 2023

In mid-June 2028, at the World Intelligent Community Forum (ICF), the TOP 7 World Intelligent Communities in 2023 were officially honored. Binh Duong Province of Vietnam was in the TOP 7 list for the third consecutive time. This is a recognition of the province's efforts in recent times in the process of economic transformation towards innovation and digitalization.

ICF conducted research and evaluated the profiles of 21 Smart Communities that achieved the Smart 21 title in February 2023 to select 7 communities with the best development strategies, and honored them at the ICF Top 7 Honors Conference 2023 held in Durham Region, Canada, with the theme "Better Together: Building a Strong region from Diverse Communities".

A city that makes it into the Top 7 must first satisfy 6 strict criteria set forth by the World Smart Community, including: Connectivity - broadband; Workforce; Innovation; Digital equality; Support and encouragement; Sustainability. This is the third consecutive time Binh Duong has made it into the Top 7 (2021, 2022), standing shoulder to shoulder with smart cities in the world of countries such as: the United States, Canada, Brazil, Australia... Binh Duong has also been in the Top 21 cities and regions with typical smart city development strategies in the world for 5 consecutive times (Smart 21).

Binh Duong has implemented the ambitious Binh Duong Smart City project since 2016 and has always adhered to the concept of economic transformation towards innovation and digitalization. Supported and inspired by the ICF Smart Community of the Year (2011) - Brainport Eindhoven (Netherlands), with the efforts and support from Becamex IDC Corporation, Binh Duong has embarked on an impressive journey of socio-economic development, thoroughly applying digital transformation and innovation in specific projects, aiming to build and develop Binh Duong to become "smarter", better and more livable. A digital and innovative ecosystem is being strongly developed in Binh Duong, such as the Smart Operations Center, EIU Campus with Becamex Business Incubator, Fablab, Advanced Manufacturing Center; World Trade Center WTC...; bringing a better life to the Binh Duong community.

Furthermore, Becamex IDC Corporation and Binh Duong province have been implementing strategic development programs, in line with the goal of more sustainable development such as promoting the use of clean energy, renewable energy; promoting the application of technology in production; developing industry 4.0..., creating a greener and cleaner living environment, thereby creating the premise for attracting technology enterprises, attracting high-quality human resources, preparing to strongly spread the model of building and developing the socio-economy of the province.

Mr. Pham Tuan Anh, Director of Binh Duong Smart City Office, affirmed: Since 2016, the province has always been steadfast with the model of 3 houses: state, school, business, to promote knowledge transfer in society. Up to now, a digital and innovative ecosystem is being strongly developed in Binh Duong, such as: Smart Operations Center, Becamex Business Incubator, Advanced Manufacturing Center; World Trade Center WTC..., helping the province connect with the commercial centers of hundreds of countries around the world. Binh Duong is also implementing strategic development programs, aiming at more sustainable development, such as: promoting the use of clean energy, renewable energy; promoting the application of technology in production; developing industry 4.0... creating a greener and cleaner living environment. Thereby, creating the premise for attracting technology enterprises, attracting high-quality human resources, preparing to strongly spread the model of building and developing the province's socio-economy. Binh Duong province is focusing on mobilizing all resources to successfully implement the strategy of developing Binh Duong Smart City in the period of 2022 - 2026. Binh Duong's new strategy is based on 3 main factors: economic development, social progress and green growth.

Regarding the upcoming orientations, Mr. Pham Tuan Anh said: Firstly, the province will promote the development of Industry 4.0 to help Binh Duong increase labor productivity, based on innovation. At the same time, promote services through pillars to promote and narrow the gap between industry and trade services of the province. Along with that, continue to expand infrastructure connections, both hard and soft infrastructure, of Binh Duong to the region and the country, applying international ecological industry standards to ensure investment attraction for the province.

With a series of breakthrough programs and projects along with the orientation of building a strategic planning vision, Binh Duong promises to continue to make continuous breakthroughs, increase the added value of the economy, the material and spiritual life of the people, and create the most favorable conditions for businesses in the process of production and business activities in Binh Duong. Binh Duong province is also aiming for the TOP 1 title of the ICF organization this year./.
