My father is 75 years old this year, his health has declined a lot, especially when the weather changes, and his hearing is no longer clear due to the effects of bombs during the war. But my father's spirit is always optimistic and cheerful. For him, being able to live on a day when the country is at peace is already a blessing, a little illness or pain is nothing. My father said that he is living for his comrades who could not return after the day the country fell silent. Therefore, even though he struggled with headaches and back pain all night, he still happily went out to the garden to plant vegetables and weed in the morning. My father always taught us: "No matter what the circumstances, you must not give up, you must not surrender". When facing difficulties, the teachings and stories of my father - a soldier - have followed my sisters and I throughout our childhood and adulthood. Sometimes when we are tired or stumble, we cling to them to stand up.
My father often told us about the hardships and difficulties during the war. Hunger, thirst, malaria, but no soldier faltered. Because in the hearts of young soldiers, the ideals of revolutionaries always shine brightly. I still remember, when I encountered my first stumbles in life, I felt like everything around me was falsehood and deception. In my reckless youth, I wanted to end everything. But at that time, my father came to me in time, took care of me, comforted me and encouraged me. Through the hospital window, my father showed me a leaf that was still stubbornly clinging to the branch despite the heavy rain and strong wind last night. At that time, I leaned on my father's shoulder and cried. I cried because of my own foolishness that made my parents sad. After that, my father told me about his own journey of perseverance. From an 18-year-old young man, not heavy enough to join the army. He hid a few rocks in his body to be able to go to the battlefield. Facing the rain of bombs, storms of bullets, and malaria. During the days of food shortages, losing contact with his comrades, and being surrounded by the enemy for many days in the forest, Dad still persevered and fought until the day the South was completely liberated. Dad returned as a wounded soldier bearing the marks of the war. The day he was discharged from the hospital, Dad carried me on his back, down each step of the stairs, I realized that Dad was really old. Each step was difficult, his breathing seemed to be intermittent. I leaned my head on his shoulder and promised not to be impulsive and weak this time again.
I gradually became stronger and more mature. It is not that life is smooth, but I am calmer and braver when facing difficulties. There are times when I feel tired and want to collapse, but I remember my father in my hometown, despite his poor health, he is always busy taking care of the house and participating in social work. This year, my father's hair has turned much grayer, he is no longer lucid, but every time he sings the song "Five Brothers on a Tank", he is full of pride and excitement. I seem to see my father's passionate youth, those are the most valuable lessons, teaching and training us to overcome difficulties and challenges.
As for me, being my father's son, the rice of my homeland has nurtured me, and the stories about my father's military life have nurtured my soul. From then on, I learned to love this life more and constantly strive to move forward strongly.
