Ministry of Education and Training guides teaching 2 sessions/day

The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued an official dispatch guiding the teaching of two sessions per day. Accordingly, it is necessary to ensure the goal of effectively implementing the objectives of the general education program, ensuring the teaching time of subjects and organizing educational activities.

In the guidelines, the Ministry of Education and Training emphasizes the requirement of teaching 2 sessions/day with clear distinction between session 1 and session 2 to ensure scientific , flexible and comprehensive development of students.

In which, session 1 is the time to implement the official general education program, including compulsory subjects and educational activities (for general education levels), elective subjects, selected subjects, advanced topics (for high school level) according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Session 2 is the time to organize supplementary educational activities, develop capacity, foster excellent students, tutor students who have not met the requirements of the General Education Program, life skills education, financial education, art education, physical education, STEM/STEAM, career guidance, artificial intelligence, foreign languages, etc.

"The organization of sessions 1 and 2 can be flexible in terms of time and balanced in terms of duration (not fixed as session 1 in the morning and session 2 in the afternoon), suitable to the conditions of each school. Encourage educational institutions to diversify teaching methods and organize educational activities to improve the quality of comprehensive education for students," the document stated.

No overloading

To teach and study 2 sessions/day, the Ministry of Education and Training assigned the Department of Education and Training to advise the Provincial People's Committee to coordinate teachers, invest in facilities, develop policies and mechanisms, and issue specific instructions.

Departments of Education and Training provide guidance on teaching and learning 2 sessions/day in accordance with practical situations. Ensure clear teaching content and methods, clear responsibilities of subjects, clear results and quality of education; coordinate with localities to achieve the highest efficiency. Arrange teachers and facilities in accordance with local conditions, not causing overload for students, teachers and parents.

General education institutions are responsible for surveying students' learning needs in the second session before the start of the new school year to publicize the plan, content, and timetable to students, parents, and on the school's information page.

General education institutions develop appropriate lunch and break plans with the agreement of students and parents, ensuring school safety, food hygiene, etc.; review the current status of facilities, teachers, and funding needs to organize 2 sessions/day of teaching and learning, report to the People's Committee at the commune level (for primary and secondary schools) and the Department of Education and Training (for high schools) to have a plan for 2 sessions/day of teaching and learning.
