Ministry of Transport requests Thua Thien Hue to remove self-opened paths across railway

The Ministry of Transport has just issued a document responding to the petition of voters of Thua Thien Hue province, requesting the Provincial People's Committee to build works to ensure railway traffic safety and eliminate self-opened paths.

Previously, voters of Thua Thien - Hue province proposed to soon invest in building residential roads at dangerous locations for railway traffic in Thua Thien Hue province to complete the removal of self-opened paths before 2025 according to Decision No. 358/2020 of the Prime Minister on approving the Project to ensure order in traffic safety corridors and completely handle self-opened paths across railways.

Functional units closed the self-opened passage in Thua Thien Hue province.

The locality also proposed investing in a number of intersections in Huong Thuy town to ensure infrastructure synchronization, create favorable travel conditions for people and promote local socio-economic development.

According to the Ministry of Transport, according to the Project to ensure order in traffic safety corridors and completely handle self-opened paths across railways, Thua Thien Hue province is planning to build about 25km of service roads along the railway to eliminate self-opened paths to ensure road and railway traffic safety.

The People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province is also the competent authority to organize the investment in the construction of the local feeder road system. Therefore, the Ministry of Transport requests the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province to promptly implement the proposal of voters.

Regarding the proposal to invest in the intersection, the Ministry of Transport affirmed that the proposal is completely appropriate. To implement it, the Ministry of Transport requested that localities develop plans and allocate funds to renovate and upgrade level crossings according to the provisions of Circular No. 29/2023 of the Minister of Transport regulating level crossings and granting construction permits for essential works within the land area reserved for railways.

"During the implementation process, the Ministry of Transport will direct the Vietnam Railway Authority and Vietnam Railway Corporation to coordinate with local authorities to implement it," the Ministry of Transport stated.
