Accordingly, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to re-appoint for a term of 5 years Mr. Gregory John Norman (commonly known as Greg Norman), born in 1955, Australian nationality, as Vietnam Tourism Ambassador for the term 2025 - 2030.
Mr. Greg Norman fully performs the responsibilities and powers of the Vietnam Tourism Ambassador according to the Regulations on appointment, reappointment, dismissal, removal and activities of the Vietnam Tourism Ambassador issued together with Decision No. 738/QD-BVHTTDL dated March 26, 2024 of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
This Decision comes into force from the date of signing.
Mr. Gregory John Norman was re-appointed as Vietnam Tourism Ambassador for the term 2025 - 2030.
Previously, according to Decision No. 4059/QD-BVHTTDL dated October 29, 2018 of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Gregory John Norman (also known as Greg Norman) assumed the role of Vietnam Tourism Ambassador from October 2018 to October 2021. Immediately after being appointed, with his title, Mr. Greg Norman actively carried out activities according to regulations.
According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, as the Vietnam Tourism Ambassador for the 2018-2021 term, Mr. Norman has made efforts to build a bridge connecting Vietnamese golf with the world golf community and contributed to the development of the Vietnam Golf Tourism brand in particular and the Vietnam Tourism industry in general. In addition, Mr. Norman has also made constant efforts to spread the message that Vietnam is an ideal destination for the world tourism industry in general and the golf community in particular.
Mr. Norman's efforts have contributed to Vietnam Tourism in general and Golf Tourism in particular being known and recognized by the world when international media channels (CNN, CNBC, Golf Magazine, Australian GolfDigest, etc.) continuously reported on Vietnam Golf Tourism as a new and ideal destination in Asia and around the world. The video introducing Vietnam Golf Tourism in collaboration with the General Department of Tourism (now the National Department of Tourism) was officially broadcast on international television channels CNBC and CNN Asia.
Vietnam's golf tourism industry has received many awards and recognition from world experts, contributing to enhancing the position of Vietnam's golf tourism in the Asia Pacific region and the world .
Along with that, Vietnam tourism has persistently overcome the COVID-19 pandemic to become the world's leading golf destination with a booming domestic golf market. Notably, the World Golf Awards - the most prestigious award in the field of golf tourism in the world - has honored Vietnam as the World's Best Golf Destination in 2019 and 2021. As the focus of Mr. Norman's action plan as Tourism Ambassador is "to promote Vietnam as a leading tourist destination for visitors around the world, and bring more international tournaments to Vietnam."
Besides, Vietnam golf tourism industry has built, inaugurated and put into operation many international golf courses (The Bluffs Ho Tram, KN Golf Links, BRG Da Nang, PGA NovaWorld Phan Thiet ..).
Appreciating the contributions of Mr. Gregory John Norman, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has proposed to re-appoint Mr. Gregory John Norman as Vietnam Tourism Ambassador for the 2025-2030 term.
Greg Norman was born in 1955 in Australia. He competed on the PGA TOUR since 1983 and became the world's leading golfer in the 1980s and 1990s. Nicknamed "The Great White Shark", he won more than 90 championship titles in tournaments around the world.
