Nam Dinh is currently one of the pioneering provinces in building advanced and exemplary NTM. As of December 2024, the whole province has 142/146 communes meeting advanced NTM standards (97.2%); 41/146 communes meeting exemplary NTM standards (28.1%); 8/15 towns recognized as meeting civilized urban standards (53.3%). Up to now, Nam Dinh has 529 OCOP products of 3 stars or higher, including 65 4-star products and 4 potential 5-star products.
In particular, Giao Thuy district has been recognized by the Prime Minister as meeting advanced NTM standards. Despite many achievements, Giao Thuy district has encountered difficulties in completing the criteria group on smart schools and classrooms. The province is currently seeking opinions from the Ministry of Education and Training to resolve this issue. In addition, the lack of a national set of criteria on model NTM also causes difficulties for localities in the implementation process.
In addition, Xuan Truong and Truc Ninh districts are completing documents to submit to the Central Government for approval in the first quarter of 2025. Hai Hau district continues to be a bright spot with the pilot model of a model new rural district "bright - green - clean - beautiful for sustainable development," achieving 11/14 set targets.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee Pham Dinh Nghi emphasized: building advanced and exemplary new rural areas is a key task, requiring maximum mobilization of resources and improvement of criteria quality, especially in terms of environment, security, order and rural landscape. The Provincial People's Committee assigned departments and branches to coordinate and support districts in completing documents, criteria, and implementing urgent projects such as building clean water plants.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam highly appreciated Nam Dinh's drastic and creative approach. He emphasized that the goal of the advanced and exemplary NTM is not only to develop the economy but also to ensure security, a safe living environment, and improve the quality of people's lives.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is coordinating with central ministries and branches to develop a set of national criteria for model new rural areas. The results from Nam Dinh will be an important basis for completing and promulgating these criteria in the near future.
