Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung holds talks with Chairman of Guangxi Autonomous Region

Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung highly appreciated the fact that Mr. Vi Thao and many Guangxi leaders chose to visit Vietnam first right after assuming their new positions, consistently demonstrating Guangxi's importance in relations with Vietnam.

Minister Le Hoai Trung affirmed that in the overall relationship between the two Parties and two countries, Vietnam always supports and creates favorable conditions for ministries, branches and localities to further strengthen exchange and cooperation with Chinese localities, especially localities with traditional friendship and close ties with Vietnam such as Guangxi.

Guangxi President Vi Thao respectfully thanked Minister Le Hoai Trung and leaders of Vietnamese ministries, branches and localities for their welcome; and sent his condolences to the Vietnamese people affected by storms and floods.

Minister Le Hoai Trung respectfully thanked Mr. Vi Thao for sharing, and also thanked the Chinese Government for recently announcing its support of 500,000 USD to Vietnam to overcome the consequences of storms and floods.

In a friendly, sincere and open atmosphere, the two sides agreed that, along with the strong and positive development of the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries, the exchange and cooperation between Vietnam and Guangxi in recent times have achieved many good results; in which, the most notable is the regular exchange of delegations at all levels, economic and trade cooperation is a bright spot with the trade turnover in 2024 reaching about 42 billion USD, an increase of 16.4%. Vietnam has been Guangxi's largest trade partner for 26 consecutive years. The two sides have maintained close coordination in land border management; people-to-people exchange and cooperation in culture, education and tourism have achieved many practical results...

To further strengthen the exchange and cooperation relationship between the two sides in the coming time, Minister Le Hoai Trung suggested that the two sides continue to effectively implement exchange and cooperation mechanisms; strengthen cooperation in all fields, especially accelerating infrastructure connection, expanding import of goods, especially Vietnamese agricultural products; and closely coordinate to build a pilot model of smart border gates.

Minister Le Hoai Trung hopes that the two sides will make a breakthrough in science and technology cooperation, especially in artificial intelligence; expand scholarships and create conditions for Vietnamese students to study and research in Guangxi; facilitate Vietnamese citizens living in Guangxi; encourage capable Guangxi enterprises to invest in Vietnam in large, symbolic projects, especially in green agriculture, clean energy, and sustainable development...

Minister Le Hoai Trung also suggested that the two sides continue to maintain close coordination in land border management, effectively implement three legal documents on land borders and related agreements; actively exchange and properly handle incidents arising on the border; coordinate to safely and effectively operate the Ban Gioc - Duc Thien Waterfall Scenic Area, attracting more and more tourists to this beautiful landscape.

Agreeing with the cooperation proposals of Minister Le Hoai Trung, Chairman of Guangxi Vi Thao affirmed that Guangxi attaches special importance to the exchange and cooperation relationship with ministries, branches and localities of Vietnam, is ready to well implement the common perception of the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two countries, making practical contributions to further strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, promoting the building of the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.

President Vi Thao also emphasized a number of specific proposals to strengthen cooperation in various fields between ministries, agencies and localities of Vietnam and Guangxi as expected in 2026, the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam will visit Guangxi within the framework of their visits to China; well organize the Spring Meeting in 2026 between the Secretary of Guangxi and the Secretaries of the provinces/cities of Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, Hai Phong in Guangxi; promote cooperation in artificial intelligence, build smart border gates, connect infrastructure; strengthen cooperation in rescue and emergency rescue in the border areas of the two countries, continue to promote cultural and tourism cooperation and humanistic exchanges.
