“ Together we can make a strong contribution to strengthening the multilateral trading system. Sharing experiences and coordinating positions among members not only raises the common voice in discussing reform of decision-making mechanisms or restoring the dispute settlement system, but also helps shape new rules in line with modern trade and economic development models. This is in line with the interests of countries in the region and makes a practical contribution to the global trade structure, ” the Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade emphasized.

Based on the existing cooperation foundation, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien said that it is possible to facilitate trade and enhance regional competitiveness. CPTPP brings high standards of transparency, digital trade and investment facilitation while ASEAN has a wide scope, high inclusiveness and a deep network of connections between economies. The combination of these two factors opens up great opportunities to reduce transaction costs, simplify procedures, harmonize regulations and especially support small and medium enterprises in deep integration into the regional market.
In the next 12 months, the Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade recommended that the two sides could prioritize a number of initiatives such as: Strengthening market connectivity and promoting joint trade to promote cooperation on digital trade; improving transparency and standardizing non-tariff measures; building a coordination mechanism to enhance supply chain resilience, especially for strategic industries.
