The Ministry of Health will request a review of the sale and use of milk in hospitals.

Dr. Ha Anh Duc, Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management (Ministry of Health), said that the appearance of milk products produced by fake milk companies in some medical facilities is a "very painful" problem, posing a direct risk to the health of patients.

Therefore, the Ministry of Health will require hospitals to review all milk usage, including when it started, who used it, and ensure traceability of patients who used the product. If health problems arise related to milk, medical facilities must be responsible for advising and supporting patients.

The leader of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment said that the Ministry of Health has developed and issued professional guidelines and technical lists related to clinical nutrition. Therefore, regarding the responsibility of prescribing, if a doctor violates, depending on the level, he will be subject to administrative sanctions, or even criminal sanctions if the violation is serious.

The Ministry of Health requires hospital directors to strictly implement relevant procedures. Handling must be strict, with no forbidden areas and no cover-up of violations if detected by authorities.

Mr. Duc also shared that in developed countries, clinical nutrition is respected and implemented systematically. Vietnam is behind but is trying to perfect the guideline framework to approach international standards.

Recently, after the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency dismantled a ring producing, trading, and consuming fake milk powder in extremely large quantities in Hanoi and neighboring provinces. Through screening, a number of hospitals discovered a number of products in the list of milk products produced by one of the above companies, although it has not been determined whether they are fake milk or not.

Meanwhile, Bach Mai Hospital has completely stopped selling functional foods at pharmacies for 3 years now. The hospital has also strictly prohibited all forms of prescription or consultation on the use of functional foods, even indirectly outside the hospital.
