At the end of the first round of SEA V.League 2025 in Ratchasima (Thailand), the Vietnamese women's team won second place after beating Indonesia 3-0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-22), beating the Philippines 3-1 (25-13, 25-21, 23-25, 25-9) and then losing 2-3 to defending champion Thailand (25-23, 19-25, 25-21, 17-25, 11-15).
The Thai women's team successfully defended their championship title with three wins, while the Philippines won the bronze medal and Indonesia ranked fourth.
In the second round of SEA V.League 2025 taking place in Ninh Binh from August 8 to 10, the Vietnamese women's team will continue to compete with the Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand in a round-robin to calculate points and rankings.
The Vietnamese women's team has finalized the list of 14 athletes officially competing in the second round of SEA V.League 2025, including: Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Nguyen Thi Uyen, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, Nguyen Thi Phuong (main attacker); Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh (opposite setter); Nguyen Thi Trinh, Le Thanh Thuy, Tran Thi Bich Thuy, Pham Thi Hien (middle attacker); Doan Thi Lam Oanh, Vo Thi Kim Thoa (setter); Nguyen Khanh Dang, Luu Thi Ly Ly (Libero).
The only change from stage 1 is that main striker Nguyen Thi Phuong returns to replace the Libero position of Nguyen Thi Ninh Anh.
Meanwhile, defending champion Thailand also brought to Vietnam this time with the strongest force to defend the championship.
The players of the “Golden Temple” team include: Ajcharaporn Kongyot, ChatchuOn Moksri, Donphon Sinpho, Sasipapron Janthawisut, Kuttika Kaewpin (attackers); Pimpichaya Kokram, Thanacha Sooksod (opposite setters), Pornpun Guedpard, Natthanicha Jaisaen (setters); Thatdao Nuekjang, Hattaya Bamrungsuk, Wimonrat Thanapan, Waruni Karnram, Kanyarat Kunmuang (middle attackers); Piyanut Pannoy, Jidapa Nahuanong (Libero).
Compared to stage 1, the Thai team is stronger as the team welcomes the return of Chatchu-On, the best striker of Thai women's volleyball at present. Along with that, middle blocker Wimonrat also returns to increase the team's strength.
The Thai and Vietnamese women's teams will meet the Philippines and Indonesia in the first two matches on August 8 and 9, respectively.
The confrontation between the two teams promises to be very exciting and will take place on August 10.
Competing in Ninh Binh and receiving the support of home fans, the "Golden Girls" of Vietnamese volleyball are determined to win to change their history of losing all matches against Thailand.
