"Malaysia is losing 1-4 to FIFA, in the joint criminal investigation that FIFA is conducting in five countries," Indonesia's Superball newspaper quoted Sheikh Ahmad.
Mr. Sheikh Ahmad served as vice president of FAM for a long time and is considered an influential figure in Malaysian football.
With his source, the former vice president of FAM said that the joint investigation that FIFA is implementing in 5 countries "is bringing bad signals to FAM".
More than a week ago, FIFA released full documents proving the naturalization scandal in Malaysian football. Not only that, FIFA also proposed to coordinate criminal investigations with the authorities in 5 related countries (including Malaysia and possibly Argentina, Spain...).
The purpose of this investigation is to expose the entire chain behind the fraudulent naturalization of Malaysian football.
Although it has not happened for long, according to Mr. Sheikh Ahmad, FAM is at a disadvantage in this investigation.
"Although the Malaysian police claim to have found nothing, the remaining four countries can provide evidence of such violations. The score is 1-4, with FAM losing," said Sheikh Ahmad.
The former FAM vice president's comments brought more bad news to Malaysian football, especially when two days earlier, another Indonesian newspaper, Tirto, revealed that FIFA had "narrowed down the names of suspects".
Earlier, Malaysian media also reported that Malaysia's own Independent Investigation Commission had found up to 13 figures in the country's football community involved in the naturalization scandal.
