Kim Dung shared that she came to the profession carefree, not worrying much about the prejudices that people attach to women when working as stuntmen. Instead, the actress simply thought: "I have been passionate about Taekwondo since I was a child, when I worked as a stuntwoman, I felt like I could satisfy my passion, so I stuck with the profession for a long time, without thinking much about it."
In the early days of training, Kim Dung faced many challenges, despite having a background in martial arts. She said that because her house was far away, no one shared with her the difficulties or injuries she experienced. Instead, the actress often confided in her family about happy stories to reassure them. Kim Dung feels lucky because during her years in the profession, she has not suffered many serious injuries. The actress happily said that because her crew members love her, she has good insurance. However, the actress of the movie My Nhan Ke has also faced many challenges. She recalled a memory that she will never forget: "There are many things I cannot overcome. For example, when I had to "fight" outside in the sun, I was exhausted and could not coordinate well with my co-star, and had an accident where I stuck my chin on the ground. At that moment, I had to be hospitalized for stitches. After the stitches were finished, I continued to go to the set to complete the stunt role that I had accepted."
Unforgettable milestone in Beauty Scheme
From a girl who encountered many difficulties in the early days of "committing herself", Kim Dung gradually found her place in the profession, leaving an impression on the audience through her roles in Calling Love, Pink Thorn, Female Tutor ... Not only a stunt actress, thanks to her experience while studying at the University of Theater and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City, Kim Dung was also trusted by directors to play the main role. In particular, the image of Lieu Thi in the movie My Nhan Ke left many impressions on the audience.
In the film, Kim Dung worked with a cast of famous female stars: Thanh Hang, Tang Thanh Ha, Diem My. The actress from Dong Nai recalled: "I always combine acting skills and martial arts. When participating in My Nhan Ke , I practiced all day from morning to night. This was a milestone in my career because it was a large project with careful investment by director Nguyen Quang Dung. Until now, many people still mention this role when remembering Kim Dung".
According to Kim Dung, girls who work as stuntmen have health problems because they do not have the same physical strength as men. Having done many martial arts, acrobatics, and off-road vehicle riding scenes in films, she added: "I only see that as the only obstacle, but now everyone is equal." Regarding remuneration, Kim Dung said that if she works hard, being a stuntman is enough to cover her living expenses. She emphasized: "My needs are probably not high. However, through film projects, I am also lucky to receive advertising invitations, so my income is quite stable."
After becoming a mother, Kim Dung balances her time between work and her role as a woman in the family. The actress confided that although her health is not as good as before, her passion for the profession is still strong. Looking at her quiet journey, many people realize that Kim Dung's career as a stuntwoman is a story of "the profession chooses the person", but she always strives to prove herself through each role.
