MU's negotiations to welcome Mbeumo are progressing well. |
After the first offer of £45 million plus £10 million in performance fees was rejected, the "Red Devils" returned with a new, more attractive offer of up to £60 million. Of which, £55 million was paid by MU to Brentford immediately, plus £5 million in bonuses depending on the striker's performance.
The second offer is close to Brentford's asking price for Mbeumo (around £62.5m), which is also the same amount that MU paid for Matheus Cunha before.
Brentford are in a strong position in transfer talks, as they have the option to extend Mbeumo's contract by a further year. His current deal expires in the summer of 2026.
MU are considered the leading candidate to own Mbeumo. The Cameroonian player himself also wants to move to Old Trafford to reunite with fellow goalkeeper Andre Onana. However, Brentford also offered Mbeumo to Tottenham, who have just appointed coach Thomas Frank.
However, Spurs have identified Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze as a backup option if they lose out in the race to sign Mbeumo with MU.
The United players are currently on holiday after a disappointing season. The team completed a tour of Malaysia and Hong Kong at the end of last month. The "Red Devils" will regroup at the end of July before heading back to Asia for pre-season.
