The alcohol poisoning patients are currently in critical condition. According to their families, the two patients drank alcohol with two other family members two days ago. Because they did not know where the alcohol bottle (hand sanitizer) was, after finishing the alcohol, they took the bottle of mixed alcohol to drink.
After eating for a day, everyone had headaches, fatigue, and vomiting but did not go to the doctor. When one person died of fatigue at home, their family took them to the hospital. According to records, there is still one person at home who has not been hospitalized (We are currently urging the family to take this person to the hospital immediately).
The patient with industrial alcohol poisoning is in critical condition.
Both patients are from Tan Dien B Hamlet, Thanh Tung Commune, Dam Doi District. For patient KX N (50 years old), after drinking alcohol for 2 days, he showed signs of vomiting, difficulty breathing, blurred vision... and was hospitalized. The patient was recorded to have industrial alcohol poisoning, acute kidney injury and is currently undergoing active dialysis.
Patient KV T (53 years old) has milder symptoms and is receiving dialysis and mechanical ventilation.
Treating doctor Le Diem Ha, Department of Intensive Care and Anti-Poison, Ca Mau General Hospital, said: “Patients with alcohol poisoning who come here all have severe progression, requiring mechanical ventilation and continuous blood filtration. With this level of danger, people need to use alcohol of clear origin, do not arbitrarily mix alcohol into wine; it is recommended not to drink a lot of wine and beer. When patients with alcohol poisoning have symptoms of blurred vision (severe progression), their vision will be damaged and they may become permanently blind. Therefore, everyone should be very careful when drinking alcohol”./.
