On the afternoon of June 13, Tam Anh General Hospital (HCMC) announced that doctors had just used a brain surgery robot to save a woman who had suffered a stroke and was at risk of paralysis.
The patient is Ms. PTT (50 years old, living in Thu Duc), admitted to the hospital in a coma after a sudden headache while eating.
Through urgent CT scan (768 slices), doctors determined that the patient had a ruptured left middle cerebral artery aneurysm causing a cerebral hemorrhage. They also performed an emergency craniotomy to remove the hematoma and clamped the aneurysm after 2 hours.
Doctors clearly see the surrounding nerve structures during surgery.
MSc - MD CKII Mai Hoang Vu, Department of Neurosurgery - Neurology Center, Tam Anh General Hospital, said that thanks to the application of artificial intelligence robot Modus V Synaptive, the doctor can safely approach the hematoma and clamp the aneurysm without damaging the surrounding nerves and healthy structures because they can be clearly seen during the surgery.
Doctors also use new fluoroscopy techniques to thoroughly examine the neck of the aneurysm and safely treat it before closing the skull. Previously, when there was no fluoroscopy microsurgery function, most surgeons would estimate and evaluate based on experience after clamping, without specific evidence to confirm that the aneurysm had been completely clamped or that there was no damage to the surrounding blood vessels.
Four days after surgery, the patient's muscle strength has improved significantly, he can walk well, talk, eat and take care of himself well.
