With a community of nearly 78 million monthly active users, Zalo - the most popular messaging platform and mobile application in Vietnam - launched the "Proud of Vietnam" campaign from April 23 to 30, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

According to records, many Zalo users have simultaneously updated their personal page interface by hanging the national flag on their wallpaper and profile picture frame. Zalo representative said the campaign has reached 1 million users participating in less than 24 hours.
Mr. Tran Minh Thanh (residing in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City), a Zalo user, wrote on the platform: "On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, I would like to express my deep gratitude to those who fell for the future of the nation."
Another young user used Zalo's national flag theme and expressed: "Grateful to those who sacrificed so that the country can be what it is today."
To use Zalo's national flag wallpaper and avatar interface, users just need to click on the banner on the diary page to choose their favorite interface set.

Zalo provides 3 sets of “Proud of Vietnam” interfaces, including a red flag with a yellow star wallpaper, a wallpaper depicting the Hanoi Flag Tower, and a wallpaper depicting the country’s landscape. All are associated with the image of the Vietnamese National Flag.
The skins will be available for free to all users on the platform during the campaign period. Accounts that have updated the skins can continue to use them until May 5.
The event of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day and information about the celebration scheduled to take place at 6:30 a.m. on April 30 in Ho Chi Minh City is creating a strong sense of pride among young people. Many young people have gathered on the central streets of Ho Chi Minh City to watch the rehearsal, parade, and march. The attraction of the series of events is so great that Vietnamese youth call it a "national concert". Therefore, Zalo's campaign also attracted a large number of users during the historic days of April.
Zalo is currently the most popular and favorite messaging platform in Vietnam, according to Decision Lab. This platform also plays an active role in connecting generations of Vietnamese users.
In the third quarter of 2024, the percentage of Zalo users in generations X, Y and Z all surpassed, at 75%, 56% and 40% respectively; higher than Messenger and Facebook.
With nearly one million users over 60 years old using it regularly every month, Zalo is also promoting access to technology and digital transformation for older users in Vietnam.
