Women's Union at all levels replicate the waste classification model to protect the environment

In recent times, the Women's Union (WU) at all levels in the province has actively promoted and mobilized its cadres and women's union members to effectively implement many waste treatment models. Thereby, attracting a large number of women's union members and people to participate, contributing significantly to environmental protection (EP), building a strong union organization, completing political tasks, and developing the local economy.

Ms. Dinh Thi Huyen, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Thi Son Ward, Kim Bang Town, said: In 2023, the Women's Union of Thi Son Ward will implement the model "Mobilizing women members to carry out environmental sanitation work, take care of flower and tree streets". With the support of the Ward People's Committee, each household participating in the model will be supported with 2 plastic trash bins. During the implementation process, every day, the Women's Union of the Ward sends staff to each member's house and people to directly guide them on how to classify and distribute leaflets promoting waste classification. Union staff directly demonstrate the distinction between inorganic and organic waste; which types of waste can be recycled... so that members and people can practice and classify without confusion... Through the implementation of the model, there is no longer any waste left in residential areas in the ward. In order for the movement to spread widely, the union has coordinated with mass organizations, teachers and students of schools to regularly carry out general cleaning of public areas, village roads, alleys, and hamlets. Thanks to good propaganda and guidance work, up to now, 100% of women's union member families have classified waste at home according to regulations; 100% of households have actively participated in environmental protection associated with urban construction and beautification, implementing civilized urban lifestyles in residential areas, and people's awareness of environmental protection has been significantly raised.

To contribute to effectively implementing environmental criteria in building advanced new rural areas (NTM) and model NTM, from the beginning of 2021 up to now, women's unions at all levels in the province have launched and maintained the activities of over 130 branches implementing "5 no, 3 clean", attracting more than 10,000 female members to participate; newly established and effectively maintained over 150 models of "Women's groups collecting waste economically to help poor women and children", "Green House" with more than 23,000 members participating, launched 9 "Women's branches to limit the use of disposable plastic products", newly established 7 models of "Building a family of 5 no, 3 clean associated with building NTM" attracting more than 1,000 members and women to participate...

In addition, the association at all levels has also established and maintained a number of specific models, suitable to the actual situation in the locality such as: "5 self - 3 clean" model; "10 adjacent households" model; "Collecting and managing chemical and pesticide packaging in the fields" model... At the same time, effectively launching and maintaining the movements "Green Saturday", "Green Sunday", "Volunteer Saturday" and general cleaning activities in residential areas and public places; 100% of the association's bases actively responded to the "Campaign to make the world cleaner", "Month of action for the environment"... contributing to preserving the living environment and preventing environmental pollution in the area.

In the coming time, to further promote the effectiveness of the models, the Provincial Women's Union will continue to direct 100% of grassroots associations to establish models and women's clubs for environmental protection; maintain environmental protection work associated with the 3 clean emulation movement; mobilize a large number of cadres, members and people to participate, contributing to completing environmental criteria in building advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas in the locality.
