In the last month of the year, hydropower plants in Ha Tinh are making efforts to safely and smoothly operate generators 24/7, soon completing the 2023 target, creating momentum for development in 2024.
2023 is a difficult year for hydropower plants in the area when there is a lack of water for production for many months (from April to September). Therefore, at the end of the year, when the water level in the reservoirs improves, hydropower plants all strive to operate at maximum capacity, completing the established goals early.
At the end of the year, the production and business needs of enterprises and factories across the country increased, leading to the development of electricity loads. To ensure electricity supply for the economy , Ho Ho Hydropower Plant (Huong Khe) is focusing on all solutions to generate electricity at maximum capacity.
Currently, Ho Ho Hydropower Plant operates 2 generators at maximum capacity.
Mr. Nguyen Ba Tuan - Deputy Director of Ho Ho Hydropower Plant said: “The plant has a capacity of 14 MW with 2 generators. From April to early September 2023, the weather was extremely hot and dry, the water level in the reservoir was low, the plant could only operate 1 generator with low output. From October 2023 until now, the rainfall has increased, the water level in the reservoir is abundant, creating favorable conditions for the plant to increase its power generation capacity, compensating for output during the difficult period. Currently, the water level of the reservoir has reached 69.66m, 2 generators operate at maximum capacity 24/24h. Accordingly, each day, the plant generates 330,000 kWh of electricity to the grid, many times more than during the hot season”.
In the first 11 months of 2023, Ho Ho Hydropower Plant connected to the national grid 36.3 million kWh of electricity, achieving revenue of about 51.5 billion VND. The unit's target this year is to produce 37 million kWh of electricity, with revenue of about 58 billion VND. Therefore, in the last month of this year, the plant continues to synchronously and effectively implement solutions such as: strengthening maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery; mobilizing human resources, utilizing water resources to generate electricity at maximum capacity..., reaching the target soon, creating momentum for new growth steps.

Huong Son Hydropower Plant (located in Son Kim 1 Commune, Huong Son) under Huong Son Hydropower Joint Stock Company was put into operation in 2011 with a capacity of 33 MW, including 2 generators. According to Mr. Ngo Xuan Manh - Manager of Huong Son Hydropower Plant, from April to September 2023, the plant only had enough water to operate 1 generator and could only maintain it for a few hours each day. From October 2023 to now, the area has recorded heavy rainfall, the water level in the Cold Water Reservoir has risen (currently reaching 801.91 m), so the plant is qualified to generate electricity at maximum capacity. The unit is focusing all resources to operate at maximum capacity, connecting 500,000 kWh of electricity to the national grid each day. From now until the end of the year, the plant strives to produce over 12 million kWh of electricity.
In the first 11 months of 2023, Huong Son Hydropower Plant produced 90.7 million kWh (25.7 million kWh lower than the same period in 2022), with revenue reaching about VND 100 billion. The plant is striving to reach its 2023 target of producing 103 million kWh of electricity, equivalent to about VND 110 billion.
The water level in the Cold Water Reservoir is currently 801.91 m, creating conditions for Huong Son Hydropower Plant to generate electricity 24/7.
It is known that currently, in addition to maintaining a stable and continuous production and business chain at Huong Son Hydropower Plant, Huong Son Hydropower Joint Stock Company also proactively takes solutions and urges contractors to speed up the construction progress of Huong Son 2 Hydropower Plant in Son Kim 1 commune.
The plant under construction has a scale of 2 generators with a total capacity of 6.4 MW (downstream nearly 3 km from Huong Son Hydropower Plant). Huong Son Hydropower Joint Stock Company strives to put Huong Son 2 Hydropower Plant into operation by March 2024, increasing power generation capacity, meeting the demand for electricity load development nationwide.
