Sitting in her sprawling villa in Cannes, France, travel expert Deborah Duquesne reveals one of the most expensive trips she has ever planned for a client. The wealthy client spent $10 million on a vacation that took her to 11 countries by private jet and yacht. The trip lasted six months, with accommodations in an 18-room villa in the south of France and one of the most sought-after mountain chalets in Courchevel, a ski resort in Savoie, France.

To give guests the most VIP experience possible, Deborah has fully equipped her properties with armed guards, staff, private chefs, celebrity trainers, and tennis lessons from international gold medalists.

To plan the trip, Deborah and her colleagues have to do detailed research to see what interests and passions customers have in order to serve them well. From there, she and the travel experts begin to adjust and create a trip exactly according to the customer's needs. "All the customer needs to do is pack their luggage, we take care of the rest," Deborah said.

Deborah's clientele consists mainly of royalty and pop stars. These people often do not specify where they want to go. They want her to "surprise them with unique experiences".

The tourists have a big bank balance in common, but their tastes vary. The super-rich in Britain tend to rent Provençal-style homes, which are designed to create a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. They also prefer large houses because they often travel with family and friends.

Rich Americans like modern villas and secluded places like oases.

In terms of cuisine , European and American guests like European food mixed with Asian or Greek cuisine . The rich British like to have a grand party but are not very demanding about food. However, they like to visit beach clubs and go to places with warm weather. Middle Eastern guests always require a lot of staff around.

Wealthy Asians want everything “turnkey” or catered. They order food from Michelin-starred restaurants and have it delivered to their homes. The same goes for shopping. They like to sit in the comfort of their vacation homes and shop.

Deborah revealed that two of the most popular items her wealthy clients carry are Rimowa suitcases, which start at $1,000, and LV Keepall travel bags, which start at $2,000. Her male clients love hats from Italian luxury brand Loro Piana, which start at $400.

One of the strangest requests Deborah received was from a client who wanted her to find a rare diamond to put in a tiara for her daughter on her 11th birthday. After searching, Deborah found a "super rare" blue diamond weighing nearly 70 carats and worth $300 million. The client immediately agreed without thinking about the price.
