FaceTime is an Apple-exclusive application that allows free video calls or regular phone calls between Apple devices such as iPhones, iPads, iMacs, MacBooks, etc., via WiFi or 3G/4G connection.
To use it, users simply need to register an Apple ID account and then use it for free. When purchasing an iPhone, users don't need to download FaceTime from the App Store; they just need to set it up and launch it.

How to enable FaceTime on iPhone
To enable FaceTime on your iPhone, follow these steps:
Step 1: Go to your device's Settings.
Step 2: Select FaceTime in Settings.
Step 3: In the FaceTime section at the top, toggle the switch to the "On" position (green) as shown in the image.
Users will now have to wait a while for the iPhone to activate FaceTime.
Once activated, your iPhone will display a list of your contacts that others can use to contact you via FaceTime.

Texting while on a call.
If you have something you can't discuss directly during a phone call and need to send a private message instead, please follow these instructions.
While on a call, tap the message icon in the upper left corner of the screen; you can now make calls and send private messages simultaneously.
Remove background during phone calls.
Note: This feature only applies if your device has been updated to iOS 15 or later.
This is a great feature that Apple recently updated; you can now blur the background directly within the FaceTime app.
On the call screen, select your photo frame > Tap the background removal icon.
Take a photo
When FaceTime with friends, there will be times when you want to take photos to capture those moments. Let's check out the instructions.
Tap the white circular camera button located in the bottom left corner of the screen. If you don't see it, tap the screen once to make the camera button appear.
SharePlay feature
Note: This feature only applies if your device has been updated to iOS 15 or later.
SharePlay on iOS 15 allows users to share their screen with each other, watching a favorite movie together.
Step 1: Go to Settings > Select FaceTime > Tap on SharePlay and toggle the switch to the right to turn it on.
Step 2: When making a FaceTime call, select the icon in the top right corner of the toolbar and choose "Share my screen" to share your screen.
