Caen fans' patience ran out. During the crucial match against Martigues in the 31st round of Ligue 1, a bitter banner was displayed at the Michel D'Ornano stadium: "Kylian Mbappe, Caen is not your toy." This scathing message reflected the extreme disappointment with the Real Madrid star's management of the team.

Mbappe has invested in Caen, but running a football team is not simple.

Despite his busy schedule in the Champions League, Mbappe still took the time to visit the team in March, after their impressive victory in the European competition. However, his brief appearance could not work miracles, nor was it enough to lift the spirits and change the players' poor form.

In an effort to help Caen avoid relegation, Mbappe made a change on the coaching bench by bringing in Michel Der Zakarian, an experienced coach with a deep understanding of French football, to the club in February. However, all efforts to salvage the situation came too late.

Now, Kylian Mbappé faces a far greater challenge than anything he's ever experienced on the pitch. The task of rebuilding the team from the ruins, reviving the players' morale, and bringing Caen back to Ligue 2 next season is no easy feat.
