In the early morning of October 8, the Thuong River in Yen The, Bac Ninh province overflowed the dike (not broken as reported on social networks) due to floodwaters from upstream in Lang Son rushing in too quickly. Mr. Hoang Van Tuan, Chief of Office of Tien Luc Commune People's Committee, Bac Ninh province, said that the incident of the 20m long dike breaking at 2am on October 8 has been basically resolved, not affecting people's lives.
According to the Bac Ninh Dike Department, the bank overflow incident occurred at the Tien Luc dike line. The dike is a dike that protects a separate area outside the main dike. The dike is usually much lower than the main dike, this type of dike can only resist flood water levels on the river at level 2, above level 2 it often overflows or the locality actively allows it to overflow.

The right dike of Thuong River, the dike directly preventing floods on Thuong River, has a total length of nearly 60 km, of which 43.8 km is a level III dike, the rest is a level IV dike (right dike of Thuong Ba Tong). In the face of the complicated and rapidly evolving flood situation, the Civil Defense Command of Bac Ninh province issued Official Dispatch No. 39/CD-BCHPTDS on issuing alarm No. III on Thuong River (at Phu Lang Thuong Hydrological Station).
